  1. haha.. I have considered that theory many times.. But just pop in The Blue Album and listen to it start to finish. Then pop in The Red Album and try to get through it without laughing out loud in disgust... There's a big difference between "The World has turned and left me here" and "Everybody Get Dangerous"... The difference is a band that took themselves seriously and put their hearts and souls into their music... But I also think "Rivers isn't as miserable as he was during the Blue/Pinkerton period" has a lot to do with it. Plus I think Matt Sharp had a lot of influence in those days
  2. You have point.. The Weezer of the Blue Album/Pinkerton era does not exist anymore. Now they cater to tweens and teens and I guess I can't blame them for that. Heck some of the lyrics on Blue Album and Pinkerton are cheesy, but at least those songs had heart and substance. As long as the tweens/teens can still listen to the older albums and appreciate them, it's all good. I'd be interested to know what your 16-year old son thinks of Pinkerton.
  3. These are truly the worst lyrics ever written for a commercially released song in the history of music. They don't work at all but I just had to post them in a bad lyrics thread. This song pretty much signifies the end of Weezer for me. Weezer - We're All On Drugs When you're out with your friends In your new Mercedes-Benz And you're on drugs And you show up late for school 'Cause you think you're really cool When you're on drugs And you put on your headphones And you step into the zone When you're on drugs But the world don't care If you are or are not there 'Cause you're on drugs
  4. I love it.. I'd pick it up in a heartbeat if I had the $. I'm sure you'll find some lucky buyer..
  5. That was enough to keep me interested. And Franco, yeah he just seemed kind of awkward and fake.. He didn't look so good either. Was it just me or did he look pale and like he was about to vomit through out most of the show..
  6. I hear "You And I" just about every time I go to Ingles (for those of you not familiar it's a grocery store chain). They must have it on their MUZAK.
  7. 6 Reasons To Visit Libya Now That's it... I'm sold... I'm booking a flight to Libya now!!!!!!!!
  8. Now all Wisconsin needs is some sand, a few camels, maybe a couple of pyramids, and it will be the New Egypt!
  9. I don't see a review. Just a score of 7.1 and video of Thom doing a strange hippie dance.
  10. I think this is just a marketing ploy to get people to spend more money an digital music. Yeah there's a difference in sound quality but unless you are professionally trained sound engineer, your not going to notice a big difference.
  11. I didn't get sick off of an IPA, I just got tired of it for some reason.. I think It started when I had a Sierra Nevada Holiday beer (very hoppy) that didn't sit right with me. Then I went back to a DFH and couldn't finish it.. The overwhelming ammount of hops made me queezy... I love Dog Fish Head's other beers though, but I wish they weren't impossible to find. Anytime you do find DFS it's one of the IPA's.. At least around here.
  12. He wore a white dress at my concert too. And he was clearly intoxicated.
  13. I'll have to add these to my list. I saw Archers open for Weezer on the Blue Album tour. And Fugazi isn't around anymore?
  14. Wow Pegboy. Haven't thought about them in ages. "Witnessed" is one of the songs that inspired me to learn guitar and start a band. One of my all time favorite album covers:
  15. Had a couple of these over the weekend. It tastes every bit as dark/stout as it looks. Sort of has that smokey taste that Guinness has. Also 9+% alcohol but it's hidden pretty well by the stouty goodness. A very good beer (as one would expect from Sam Adams), one of the best stouts I've had.
  16. The Ramones Crosby Stills and Nash? That's about it.. Didn't start going to concerts until the late 90's and most great bands were long gone.. Oh yeah and Weezer on the Blue Album and Pinkerton tours... That counts because the real Weezer isn't around anymore.
  17. I haven't heard it yet but I fully expect noise, atonal progressions, and whiny vocals that are hard to make out the lyrics... Am I wrong?
  18. Poor schmuck's who actually try to make that work and flood their kitchens...
  19. Missed John Fogerty at a festival because I had to see the Pixies instead. This was a good reason, but still hated to miss him. Hopefully I'll get another opportunity. Also missed Eric Clapton a few years ago and I can't remember why... Another guy I have to see sometime, hopefully soon before he retires.
  20. For some reason I just can't drink IPA's anymore... Or any beer with A LOT of hops.. I was drinking a lot of Dogfish Head IPA and just got tired of it. And now anything too hoppy makes me borderline queasy. It's a shame because it used to be one of my favorites. Strange how that happens. Lately I've been sticking to crappy American beer, the occasional Sam Adams, or stout like I listed earlier on special occasions.
  21. Agreed, the heavier the gauge the better they sound. For acoustic guitars, the heavier gauge doesn't matter that much since you aren't bending strings, but of course on electrics, heavy gauges strings are a bitch to bend and can tear up your fingers real fast. Unless you play every day and have some hard core calluses on your fingers, it's best to stick to 10's. Anything lighter than 10's and your sound will be very twangy (unless you are going for that). I once did a mini-tour with my band and was playing 2+ hour shows a night... By the 6th day I had some crazy calluses and was ab
  22. I would think it would be available pretty much everywhere there is a beer/whine specialty store. It would be in the section with the single bottles, definitely top shelf.
  23. Yeah it's definitely over the top. It's by far the most flavorful beer I have ever tasted and can see how some people might think it's a little too flavorful. I could only drink one that's for sure.
  24. Speaking of nice stouts, this one is simply amazing: Amazing as in; you won't believe the aroma after pouring and it tastes every bit as good as it smells. Seriously, you have to try one and you'll know what I mean.. Yeah they are like $9 a bottle but it's worth it.
