  1. Wow, 20's and 30's.. Now that's old.. I've had enough time to really get to know my new Epi over the last week and I think the action is a little high... I've read that this model is known for having high action which doesn't bother me much, but I noticed the neck is a little bowed. Do you think I could benefit from adjusting the truss rod to correct the bow, or should I just leave the old lady alone?
  2. I have two sisters and they both mostly listen to horrible pop-country garbage... Although I have shared with them Wilco and other of my favorite bands and they both seemed to have enjoyed it thoroughly... They also enjoy my band(s) and I'm far from pop-country... But as far as their regular rotation, it's the top 40 country crap that makes me want to
  3. Ain't that the truth. I've quit many times as well... I think the longest I quit was when my wife was pregnant with our first child but started back up again after he was born... My wife and I used to always say that we would quit when we turned 30... Well here I am almost 31 and still smokin... I'll go days without smoking and when I do smoke it's only 1 or 2 a day.... But where it's bad is at gigs with my band(s) when I become a chain smoker... What gets me is being around other smokers.. Co-workers, band-mates, they've all kicked me off the wagon many times... So any advice I could
  4. Indeed, one of my favorite albums. Their older stuff is good.. But I'd like to know what Bradford was eating for breakfest when he wrote the songs for Halcyon. Excellent record.
  5. BIG Deerhunter fan.. I'm the tiebreaker. Maybe I should change the name of my band to Deerhead... Seems like all of the Deer named bands receive main stream recognition.
  6. That Atlanta date is looking mighty tempting.. It'll be great to see Justin headline (saw him open for Wilco and he had a short set).
  7. Thanks! First song I played on her; I was testing to make sure there were no frets buzzing or anything down past the 7th fret (a problem with my other acoustic) so I capo'd the 7th and played "They Killed John Henry" by Justin Townes Earle. I'm amazed at how loud this guitar is. The projection and sustain is incredible. I'm not sure if it's the model or maybe the older wood has something to do with it? Either way I have to sing pretty loud to be heard over it, not a bad thing.
  8. Three out of the four times I've seen Wilco (well modern Wilco, not counting when I saw them in 96) they have opened with Sunken Treasure. Don't get me wrong I love the song, but the third time I was like "really?"....
  9. So I went with the 1988 Epi PR-350S. It's nothing extravagant, but it sounds great and it's in excellent condition (hardly a scratch on it). The guy said it's been sitting in it's case for 15 years. So I got my old guitar... Thanks everyone for the replies.
  10. D7 e---- B--3- G--5- D--4- A--5- E---- C# Dim 7 e---- B--5- G--3- D--5- A--4- E---- G7 (I'm sure you already know a G7) E7 Hendrix'ish e--7- B---- G--7- D--6- A--7- E---- So the intro basically goes: D7 - C#Dim7 - G7 - E7 - C#Dim7 - D7 - G7 - E7 - C#Dim7 - D7 - G7 That's basically it.. Sounds right to me. The rest of the song just repeats those same chords with some variation.
  11. Yeah I was wrong about the capo.. He just uses it so often that I assumed... I've got the chords.. I'm going to try to put them in tab. It's basically a D7, to C# Diminished 7 chord, G7, and then a E7 that's basically the E7 Hendrix chord, but instead of the #9 it's a high B... Not sure what's that's called.. lol
  12. I'm a HUGE JTE fan... Hard Living is one of his many great tunes.. . I'll see if I can take a crack at it. I definitely hear some dominant and diminished chords in there. I'll see if I can figure her out and get back to you.
  13. I just hope they aren't into "Big Time Rush".. One of their song just came on during a Phineas and Ferb commercial break, and my six year old boy said "this sucks!! turn it off! turn it off!".... Phineas and Ferb is great.. My kids also like the cartoon network shows, Adventure Time, Regular Show (although that show can get a little out of their age group.. but it's not too bad)
  14. All I know is as a guitar player, "Eyes Of The World" is one of the funnest songs to jam on... I guess that's why the Grateful Dead is the greatest jam band ever.. They always wrote the best jam chord progressions.
  15. Ok well maybe it could have gone better. Exactly... But somehow I knew that people would still find a way to bash the country in this thread...
  16. Me too. Hopefully we've learned something from this... The operation couldn't' have gone better.
  17. I was wondering the same thing about John Lithgow...
  18. I myself dabbled in pacifism once. Not in 'Nam of course.
  19. License Plate Joe Featuring the Scotland Yard Superstars and The Skittle Girls
  20. It makes me wonder how someone that managed to evade capture for so many years didn't have some kind of escape tunnel or something installed in his compound that he lived in since 2005.. Or better yet if he at least attempted to slip out the back or something. Interesting that he waited on the second floor for them to come and get him...
  21. Killing Bin Laden was definitely justified, although I think he deserved worse... He should have been killed Dexter style... Tied down to a table, knife in the heart.. A bullet to the head is quick and painless.. Although I'm sure there was that brief "oh shit, I'm fucked aren't I" moment...
  22. Who is us actually? I'm pretty sure I'm better than Bin Laden was...
  23. Hope you have a good carefree birthday.
  24. It was great to finally see Americans celebrating together holding American flags and just being proud to be Americans for once.. Haven't seen that in a while..
  25. All of them.. There's no other way to do it. We can't trust the countries where these guys usually hangout.. As soon as we start trying to unravel the red tape, they get tipped off and fall through the cracks again. This situation was handled perfectly and I commend President Obama and our military forces for it.
