  1. Give it some time. Some albums have a longer gestation period. It's definitely more subdued than Uh Huh Her. No rockers, but spare piano arrangements and haunting lyrics seem to be the hallmark of this record. just a Stanley Nickel's worth. cheers, b.s.
  2. Never seen Dr. Dog, but plan on catching their set on Saturday at ACLF. It seems to me there were allowed a slot after the White Stripes canceled and everything got bumped up a bit. Dr. Dog play early. Are you in Austin? I'll check back later tonight. I'm about to get ready to make my way over to Zilker Park. cheers, b.s.
  3. I've been in Austin for almost a week... very much looking forward to the Festival. How many VC'ers are going to be there for Wilco's set I wonder? I'm not even going to try to get in to the ACL taping, even though I know I'd love it. Any secret handshakes or hand signals to identify other VC'ers? cheers, b.s.
  4. suh-weet! i'd heard rumours that such a set would be released... i had snoozed for years waiting to get Season 1. i was refusing to purchase until Season 2 was made available... then once S2 saw the light of day... S1 was long out of print. maybe my slackness is being rewarded. yeah, that's one way to look at it. cheers, b.s.
  5. I seriously hope that he's stable by now... the report is hours old... Pull through this, Owen. b.s.
  6. a few that used to do it for me... back in the day (shite, I sound old when I say that): Van Morrison's Astral Weeks The Doors' Strange Days and for something more recent, Asylum Street Spankers' Spanker Madness there's even a bong "interlude" snootchie bootchies, b.s.
  7. Nice shots! It's good to be up front... no doubt about it. --bigshoulders
  8. Bill, one of these days i'll get out to see 2 Cow Garage. just hasn't happened yet for me, but thanks for the review. did you happen to make it up to Charlotte to see Wilco @ Ovens? cheers, kevin
  9. a small FLICKR set resides here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/73437185@N00/...57600466334475/
  10. WOW! great set! Acuff-Rose! It's refreshing that a technical glitch doesn't phase Tweedy, and you get a gem such as that. I am jealous! Did the macrame owl make an appearance? We have a right to know. cheers, b.s.
  11. I met him backstage at the College of Wm. & Mary show last year. He was the only one that had a bottle opener on his person... and so he opened up a round of beers for everyone back there. It was admittedly an awkward moment, but he did seem like a cool guy. I Appreciate! cheers, b.s.
  12. There's nothing on the reverse. My friend Mary noticed the misspelling only after we had bought 'em and returned to our seats. It'll quickly become my new favorite, that's for shiizzle. cheers, b.s. ND: coffee, strong enough to defend itself
  13. Thank you! Incidentally, I found the thread by way of your profile. (That Shrutebuck made me click!) b.s.
  14. suh-WEET! I think this current line-up is the best as far as rocking yer socks off! cheers, b.s.
  15. I second that nomination. When they exited the stage after the main set in Charlotte, GK was the only one that accepted the outstretched towel that the stage hand offered to every member of the band as they were leaving the stage. He had worked up such a sweat, I wouldn't be surprised if he needed two towels. wish i could have went to this show as well... i really really wanted to see Pat's "windmill" (by way of Pete Townsend) on "I'm a Wheel" in Charlotte... but alas, it wasn't meant to be. can anyone confirm they still do the 3-guitar attack on this song? cheers and beers, b.s.
  16. It is the same little girl-- and she was at the Chapel Hill show on March 05 2006 as well. She had a custom t-shirt with the phrase: "Rock on Little Sister" on it. I have some cute pics that I'll post here later on. Hopefully tonight... At first, security wasn't going to allow the father and daughter even near the stage, and they turned them away. Jeff then came nearer the stage, and then the security fellow must've gotten the word in his ear-piece to allow the child onstage. She's a cutie, that's for sure. I was in row B and recognized her & her father and waved to them when they f
  17. Hit the craft bins and start Macram
  18. I have been diggin' on "Drums & Guns" for a few weeks now, in preparation for last night's opener in Charlotte, and although I've enjoyed their music, the slow pace of the songs (even slower than on the recording) put me in a semi-trance, and several times I blinked really long blinks. "Violent Past" was easily the best song of their set, but I really missed hearing the catchiest tune: "Hatchet." The on-stage lighting was very effective at isolating the trio, as well. I think the whole set could have been improved, if only they didn't play at such a slow tempo. cheers, kevin
  19. Awesome show! I'm so glad they pulled out such gems as Sunken Treasure, I'm Always in Love, Shot in the Arm, and CA Stars. (It's been a while since we've heard this one live.) It made my friend Mary's (and mine) concert experience even more complete. Man o' man... I'm still high off the experience. I loved watching the dancers... I think I could pick Ms Yvon out of a lineup, if they were all dancing! : ) Cheers! Do you think Wilco will be doing another run through the southeast??? I sure hope so... maybe come autumn. Can't wait to hear this show, and a big Thank You in advance
  20. hubba, hubba, ding, Ding DING! oh... back to what really caused me to de-lurk... does anyone know what show the mp3 (previously in this thread) for "Lullaby for Rafters and Beams" was recorded? muchos gracias. b.s.
  21. tickets.com is the bastard son of the original ticketbastard. shut out from the effin' get go. b.s.
  22. Me and my good friend Mary will be in Akron for Tom's closing night of this eight city tour. I haven't been on this board in while, what with all the TW hype, but I was wondering if any of you were going? We're also planning a side trip the day before (or possibly something to do on that Sunday) of going to see the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland. can anyone give any other suggestions for things to do / see in and around Akron? hoist that rag, kevin
  23. welcome Mark! i'm sorry that you were stuck with a bunch of lame folks for the show. my honest-to-goodness best piece of advice is to show up earlier for your next show. that's when the really ardent fans line up. (if it's GA) there were atleast 2 tapers there. have patience my friend. the show will surface (if it hasn't already.) do you have a wideband connection? are you savvy with bittorrent? there's a place for you here in ViaChicago called "IN A FUTURE AGE" is where you should check for newly posted shows. bottom line is patience, though. welcome! kevin
