  1. Her name is Charlotte Lewis. I don't think she can't remember her mother's maiden name do to time fluctuation. Memories don't appear to be effected. She appears to be suffering from the same "sickness" that Desmond had in the Constant, as well as George Minkowski (the communications officer from the Freighter), and Regina (from the freighter but she committed suicide.)
  2. Walt did leave the island. He was seen in New York living with his grandma in the eps "Meet Kevin Johnson" and his visited Hurley at the mental institution. Though the Hurley one may or may not be real cause well you know Hurley can see dead people and all.
  3. I think we have gone around in circles on this argument. There is a segment of the discussion that believes cheating no matter what should be dealt with as cheating, steroids, ball doctoring, corking of a bat, etc. And then others believe that there are varying degrees of cheating. I really think no pounding of the chest and beating of a dead horse will change anyone's mind. What is the unfortunate thing is, that no matter what you think of the different kinds of cheating, it is going on players will find new ways to cheat in the future it will never stop. The game is not pure and prob
  4. Why are they different? And why is a weak argument? You are doing something that will effect the outcome of the game, something that is banned by the league. Both steroids and spitballs give a player an unfair advantage in the game. Should they be treated the same, I think so. You are basically accepting one form of cheating and allowing the other. That is not right. Steroids are treated differently, and the always will be. You can use the analogy of steroids is to murder as a spitball is to a parking ticket because the end result of steroids and spitballs are the same. An unfair ad
  5. I would have to disagree on this statement. Steroids are illegal in baseball, but there is such a stigma around it in essence is "more illegal" or seen as a worse offense then other things you could do in baseball. Take for example the spitball, and the case of Gaylord Perry. Gaylord was a hall of fame pitcher whose use of the spitball was widely know and almost celebrated. The spitball or ball tampering is against the rules of baseball and a form of cheating, yet here is Perry in the hall of fame. Is what Gaylord Perry did different from a player who takes steroids, no. Is it seen diffe
  6. You are thinking of Isabel from the episode Stranger In A Strange land. Lostpedia Profile. Apparently she is dead. Jill the Butcher is an unknown person. Lostpedia profile
  7. So here is a question. Why didn't Richards people become "unstuck in time" like Locke and the other Losties?
  8. By famous I mean he makes his living making music. He is no longer an office drone. solace, he is not the singer at the local coffee shop you go see on a friday night. I mean hell there is a nine page thread about him and his new album on a forum that is about him. That to me means he is famous.
  9. I have heard that, I know some people who actually worked with him before he became famous, and have said the same thing. Maybe I just need to meet him.
  10. Don't necessarily think that the Ben Mrs. Hawkins piece was out of the normal Oceanic 6 timeline. From the stand point of television the O6 timeline progressed normally (not like the on island "unstuck" folks.) Sure Ben could have hopped a plane and flew to Oxford to talk to Mrs. Hawking, and told her about Hugo, and got the 70 hour time frame. But man wouldn't that suck to have to fly back to LA and waste a good 10-15 hours. Plus it would really be poor writing to have a time travel element in a story line (the O6) that previously had none with no hint or acknowledgment. The writers are
  11. I know what you are getting at, the gravelly voice. Armstrong has an authentic quality to his voice, as does Tom Waits. Whereas Ward's voice doesn't seem authentic to me. It is breathy wispery and as I said before sounds like he is trying to make it that way. Now that may or not be the case, but it is what is sounds like to me.
  12. I am probably the only one here (and solace knew this was coming), that just doesn't "get" M. Ward. I appreciate his musicanship, and his lyrics are good too, but his voice is like nails on a chalk board to me. He has this breathy, trying too hard not to sound like he is trying too hard, quality that drives me up a wall. I want to grab him and shove a lozenge down his throat. According to my brother, "well that is to bad for you."
  13. I don't. Classic red herring. Daniel's mom is in Oxford. Mrs. Hawkins wasn't in Oxford, she was in LA with Ben.
  14. As Daniel explained the time travel thing it reminded me of Kurt Vonnegut's Slaughterhouse Five. Where it's main character becomes "unstuck in time" and travels to different points in his life. Interestingly he is put in an alien zoo by the Tralfamadore who can see into the fourth deminsion and have seen every instant of their lives and believe they cannot shoose to change their fate. Sounds awfully close to the premise of this season. It is interesting that Richard and his group did not become "unstuck in time" like the Losties. Is this because they are orginal inhabitants? Why are th
  15. You know I have always felt the Barack Wilco connection was a bit idealized or a fantasy around here. Do y'all honestly believe that Barack could name 5 Wilco songs? I would bet that the list here closely represents Barack's musical taste. Obama is like a mirror which is his power and his curse. He reflects the our idealized self. We all love Wilco we think he loves Wilco. But ask yourself does he really?
  16. Wilco is not a name your average mother would know. the other bands are.
  17. another thing I love about the NL game is keeping score. There are NL games where my score card looks like a madding mess of drunken scribbles and names. AL games not so much. and the pitcher's spot in line up is not a throw away out. There is bunting, taking a bunch of pitches and other stuff. It just add a twist to a game that is far more enjoyable to watch.
  18. exactly, I think you where dusty baker in a previous life. and the pitcher spot is a much greater timportance. The pithcer is pitching a 5 hit 1 run game but man he is on fire right now. your team is down by 1. it is the bottom of the 7th. What do you do? What do you do? The pressure the thought. Brain Aneurysm! From the SAT days the AL is to Checkers as the NL is to Chess. the NL is a thinking man's small ball game. The AL is a big hitters score as many runs as possible game.
  19. I remember when this thread use to be about baseball not in fighting, name calling and pointless arguing. Let's bring it back to baseball and more importantly to the Chicago Cubs. Items I would like to be discussed 1) Milton Bradley's spot in the 2009 Cubs lineup: I say between Lee and Amram, so the lineup would look like this Alf, Fukudome, Lee, Bradley, Amram, Soto, Theroit, Lil Babe Ruth, Pitcher 2) The fifth starter spot for the Cubs (Marshall? Someman via addition?) 3) Why the NL is superior to the AL (not in players, but in watchabilty of the game) so there
  20. If memory serves Douglas Adams wrote a couple of the episodes, so you got your good writing right there.
  21. For Classic Who they ain't bad. Though if you are not familiar with Classic Who the acting, sets, and special effects will seem well bad. A pretty good review is found here
  22. now that a new doc has been picked let the speculation of a new companion begin: http://spoilertv.blogspot.com/2009/01/doct...-companion.html Lilly Allen?
  23. I did, it is "cute." I keep forgetting that Doctor Who is a kids show. I have always liked the music and the bit with Doctor is fun. Worth getting, and watching once. Not worth saving.
  24. Score! Did I not call it? At 26 he is the youngest Doctor. Wonders how he will fair.
