  1. WTF? I don't think I would go to Charles Barkley on he thoughts on basketball, let alone something like this. I wonder what he thinks about Detroit.
  2. I heard the average response time for police in emergency situations is 58 minutes. So more than likely someone is gonna get shot.
  3. Anyone care that Detroit went bankrupt? http://www.detroitnews.com/article/20130719/METRO01/307190074/1361/Detroit-bankruptcy-headlines-circle-the-globe Probably not
  4. Agreed, but everyone has the right to say any damn fool thing they want to. I have been purposely staying out of any gun talk because, I DON"T FUCKING CARE! In other news I wonder if the 38th time is the charm to repeal the Affordable Care Act. http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/post-politics/wp/2013/07/17/house-to-vote-yet-again-on-repealing-obamacare/ I am glad they find the time to vote on this rather then work on the immigration bill that is sitting there. Or working on returning the student loan interest rate from the 7% that it is now. Or a huge number of problems we have.
  5. this farm bill is a joke. more of a bill to pay off big corporate farms, while leaving the poor starving.
  6. It was a really fun show. Nice crowd, lots of pot smoke. I was really surprised by Richard Thompson whose set list was woefully short. MMJ got really tedious after awhile. Though it was nice to see trampled by turtles play with them. Wilco was on as they have seemed to be this tour. Highlights was nel's solo on impossible Germany, cinnamon girl and half naked roadie on hoodoo voodoo. Bob was well bob
  7. was it cold up there in Duluth? Cause everyone seems to be in jackets.
  8. I am honestly surprised that you don't find the timing at all suspicious. Friday was a day off for me and many people (and most State workers here in WI, but that was do to unpaid furloughs and is a different story entirely.) It was more than a long weekend it was nearly four days off. Scott Walk is ardently anti-choice and I am sure proud of the bill he and the GOP help pass. He just seems to be playing a game for his future political aspirations, rather standing up and loudly proclaiming what he stands for. Needless to say I believe the bill is not good for the people of WI, as we
  9. In Wisconsin the Gov has 6 days after receiving the bill to sign or veto. He received the bill on 7/3/13. He signed it on 7/5/13. Often times when a legislation is important it is signed during some ceremony at some location. Not to say that it warranted such a spectacle, but to me it is odd that he choose to sign it on the Friday of a long Holiday week. It plainly shows that he was trying to slip this law under the rug and hopefully not get it noticed. I mean it may be nothing, but the timing just seems suspicious.
  10. I think it would be better actually. Here in Wisconsin it is a big thing right now. There was a very restrictive reproductive rights bill passed and signed by the governor. Which was later put on hold by a judge. What is amusing thus far is that Gov Scott Walker signed the bill on Friday July 5th. I guess in hopes that it wouldn't be noticed over the Holiday. It seems as though a man with presidential aspirations doesn't have the balls to stand by his convictions.
  11. Shaking my head. I DON"T FUCKING CARE. I know you are capable, but the tread has become a pissing match. It has become so played out and stupid, which makes IRDB's picture and your comment such a perfect metaphor for the debate at large. But apparently it is the only thing that ever gets any traction in this thread. Whatever. In the meantime we have an ineffectual congress with a majority party that is going to use the Debt Ceiling to enact spending cuts on the nation as a whole. Or what about the inability to pass a farm bill, or save student loan interest rates from doubling. O
  12. Anyone here going to Americanarama in St. Paul? It looks to be the only sold out show remaining.
  13. So glad this thread has turned into pictures and nonsensical one word rebuttals. It shows how the level of debate has deteriorated when it comes to guns. Gun laws will never change in this country the two sides are too entrenched. I for one just shake my head whenever someone brings it up. In other news it appears we are again gonna play around with the full faith and credit of the United States. So we got that going for us. http://www.nationaljournal.com/congress/house-republicans-draft-their-debt-ceiling-playbook-20130707 Worse Congress ever.
  14. Hixter- Regarding the IRS "scandal," the reason it belongs in quotes IMHO, is that it has not risen to the Administration toppling thing that Issa and so many people on the right tried to make it. Is it a problem that the IRS seemingly targeted conservative groups (and some on the left)? Yes, but when you step back and look at it the IRS did so because the sheer numbers of requests for Tax Exempt status that where coming in. They did not have a good system in place to successfully find out which groups were tax cheats or not, so they decided, on this "profiling" method. Simple as that. It
  15. The most important ruling by SCOTUS in decades and this thread has been dominated by the talk of guns. Boo
  16. Marmol Designated for Assignment by the Cubs. As a long suffering Cubs fan, all I have to say is thank you. http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20130625&content_id=51696920&vkey=news_chc&c_id=chc
  17. So SCOTUS today struck down a key provision of the Voting Rights Act of 1965 (in a surprise of all surprises a 5-4 decision). http://www.cnn.com/2013/06/25/politics/scotus-voting-rights/index.html?hpt=hp_t1 Now, I have not have time to look at the ruling and try to suss out the affects, but the left media is really upset about this and the right media is ambivalently cool. The big worry at least for me is that in the ruling it stated as much stated that there is still a problem with voting rights in the this country and a need for the voting rights act, but the formula it uses to determin
  18. No matter what you think of Matt Smith's performance this is pretty cool.
  19. It is amazing to see how the band really went from an above average bar band to the true musicians they are today. Man they did seem to be having a hell of a lot of fun back then.
  20. In this day in age we have a problem. Mainly the problem is we think what the other side wants or believes, which often is a highly distorted or completely inaccurate. Take for example Gov. Bobby Jindal's op ed in politico. Where he says the following: It is laughable that Jindal would say these things. I am sure I can find some op eds from the left that basically say similar distortions of the right's point of view. It would be so much better if we would just listen to what people had to say, rather then respond to what we think they will say.
  21. I actually took it as you didn't have answer. Sorry I was so rude and hurt your feelings.
  22. Don't really care. People call out people all the time and the internet is not known for its decorum even in a relatively cordial place like this. You said the quotes around scandals don't belong, I honestly wondered why you thought that way. You seemed not to care, you probably don't. So whatever.
  23. Noticed you didn't respond to my direct questions, snarky or not. Oh well.
  24. and what bullets are made of, apparently.
