Since this thread is pretty much dead and even Hixter's attempt at getting the gun debate going again didn't work (I mean does anyone really care that much any more, it is not like anything will be done ever). I am going to point out again what is happening in Wisconsin, which you can take as a cautionary tale or as a tale of triumph, depending on your point of view. Some backstory, the TEA party and the right got their foothold in Wisconsin in 2010, not only electing a seemingly moderate, but in essence extremely right wing governor, and ousting probably the best and most honest Senators i

New (non living room) tour dates and plus listen to the title track to the forthcoming Stitches. http://pitchfork.com/news/51154-califone-announce-new-album-stitches-share-title-track-plot-tour/ Like the sound, though Tim is sounding more an more like Bowie (not old Bowie but current Bowie).

Just another thing in the line of the craziness that is Wisconsin politics. http://www.rightwisconsin.com/perspectives/211378951.html

Steve Benen had and article about how a majority of the US supports NSA surveillance. Interestingly to note how support changed based upon the year and who is in office. His basic point is all that matters who is the office. http://maddowblog.msnbc.com/_news/2013/06/11/18900012-us-majority-backs-nsa-surveillance?lite Which I think really kinda sums up what is wrong with our political system right now. It shouldn't matter. It comes down to this, in 2001 we gave up our civil liberties with the Patriot Act, we should not be shocked an outraged that NSA is using the power it was given.

Me likey. Though a much different vibe from the sound of the "trailer"

not a loophole, but a technicality. It is the same as a person being found not guilty of a crime because the police screwed up procedurally. Did the person commit the crime, yes, but are they guilty no. The way Braun conducted himself afterwards pointing a finger at the MLB and they tester is what people have a problem with. Yes I agree we have all jumped the gun and proclaimed these 20 players guilty with out any evidence and that is wrong for sure. But if ARod and Braun are found guilty of using PEDs I hope the punishments are swift and to the letter of the policy.
-
At least for me, it was the way he acted after the first test was thrown out on a technicality pointing the finger at everyone else. MLB I am sure had it out for him, but if there is sufficient evidence that he used PEDs he should get the 100 game suspension.

Show your work. Did a search on "economy" on CNN.com (which if memory serves is a news outlet you said you read). Not only do a majority of the stories deal with Economy in other countries, if they discuss the US economy, it is overwhelming in positive terms. And I have described why these are not scandals in a previous post. You obviously think differently. Please explain. This is the point I am trying to make. This NSA thing as well as the other issues that the Right is constantly bringing up are nothing more then a distraction from the current state of the Economy. It is im

What the hell are you even talking about? Of course Obama owns it, I am not trying to push this off on anyone. In 2001 the Patriot Act overwhelmingly passed, this gave unprecedented powers to the US government. And now it comes to light that the Government uses these powers and everyone is pissed? Give me a break. So when Dems complained about the Patriot Act and still voted for it, the outrage is false. Just as it is today. That is not the point. Just because the Left (minus groups like the ACLU who always hated the Patriot Act) was wrong in the outrage when Bush was president doe

Found this article and it was quite interesting: 7 realistic castings for the next Doctor - Like the Damien Molony choice. Also Neil Gaiman weighed in and says the next actor to play the Doctor should be an unknown. I tend to agree with Mr. Gaiman.

FISA was passed in 1978, but the the Patriot Act increased the FISA courts powers. Specifically section 215 allows "business records" to be collected with a single warrant. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Section_summary_of_the_Patriot_Act,_Title_II#Section_215:_Access_to_records_and_other_items_under_FISA Without the Patriot Act this would not be possible. But that is not the point, it is going to be the false outrage that will come form the Right over the next few days. And more to my point, the economy is all but forgotten.
-
So the NSA has been collecting phone data. http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2013/jun/06/nsa-phone-records-verizon-court-order I love the false outrage. I mean, what did you think would happen with the Patriot Act? This will be just another thing for the GOP to go after Obama. Curious, the rallying cry of the economy is terrible and it's PBO's fault have died down.

Ugh. Too bad really. Though the way he got out of the last positive test was always suspect. Bet the Yankees are happy about A-Rod. This way they won't have to pay him.

regardless of the job he does his actions are pretty telling of the current state of political discourse. Issa is a big jerk and his hearings are mostly baseless and going after directly after Jay Carney like that was childish. I just wish Jay would risen above it and not stooped to that level. I have heard the Left praising Carney and the right saying Carney's reaction was because Issa is getting close to the truth or some other nonsense. It is just stupid prattle.
-
See when your write the things you do, you sound foolish and you do no good for anything. Disagree and hate what the GOP all you want, but in my mind you don't seem to have an intelligent thought in your head. I always felt that when you argue and passionate about something you need to rise above those debating. If some calls you a liar, why call them a big fat liar. Explain why they are wrong. Case and point. This weekend Issa called Jay Carney a "paid lair" then Jay used twitter to bring up Issa's sorted past and called him Mr. Grand Theft Auto. http://maddowblog.msnbc.com/_news/20

A lot of big name actors are going to TV mostly for the stability.

I think this is one of the rare instances where Hixter and I agree. IRDB, I probably agree with most of what you say, but they way you say it is terrible. You come off like a drunk or stoned teenager most of the time and end up derailing the conversation.

I would think anyone who is a "major star" is probably out. In the current era Eccelston, Tennant, and Smith had minor successful staring roles prior to being the Doctor. Here is an article with a list of bookmaker odds. http://io9.com/bookmakers-are-already-placing-odds-on-the-next-doctor-510915300 My prediction is that it will be someone we have never really heard of, but who has been in a critically acclaimed BBC series in the past 2 years.

Saw this article on the speculation on who will replace him. I have been saying Ben Whishaw for years now. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/10094072/Whos-next-The-favourites-to-replace-Matt-Smith-as-the-12th-Doctor-Who.html?fb The one thing I hope they don't do is make the Doctor a Female. I couldn't care less about the race but a woman Doctor, no.

And the cycle continues. Neither side willing to budge and nothing gets done.

I was thinking about this today, the two infrastructure bills are very different. the GOP plan was just a continuation of highway funding, not nearly the infrastructure that is needed. Also the GOP plan did have some cuts and items that go against the EPA. Knowing that the Senate is controlled by the Dems it seems like the GOP put this in to say hey look at me we have a infrastructure bill knowing it would be voted down. Honestly what is needed is compromise. It is the hardest thing for the two parties to do, but it should be what they should be doing.

Thanks for the link a pox on both houses then.

Calling total bullshit on this, total and complete bullshit. Every time I hear that Obama is a big government spender it makes me want to throw up. It is a lie spread by the right and ridiculous. And then parroted by people as fact as why Obama is a terrible president. But nothing but pure bullshit. It is widely proven that that government spending has slowed under Obama. http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/wonkblog/wp/2013/01/24/think-obamas-a-huge-spender-then-you-need-to-see-these-two-charts/ Spending it wisely is a concern this is true, but the money needs to be spent, our infra

Regardless of your political leaning I think (or at least I hope) we can all agree that Michele Bachmann's announcement that she is not seeking another term in congress is a good thing. She epitomizes what is wrong with our current crop of politicians. She is ill informed but yet vocal and think she knows everything and refuses to listen to anyone else. http://www.politico.com/story/2013/05/michele-bachmann-not-running-again-91972.html?hp=t3_3 Also Bob Dole rips the current GOP. I have always respected Bob Dole as a politician and a statesmen. I think he has it right. http://www.n

Today the President gave a speech that is going to fundamentally change our foreign policy and no one cares.
