I think pot/hash is pretty damn dangerous; it's very accessible, very conducive to experimentation, it's generally viewed as a mild narcotic, very often viewed as less dangerous than alcohol - which is something I would take with a large grain of salt. Just proves there's no "right" answer, it depends on the individual. For me, lessons always made me feel stupid. Noodling around on my own and figuring out how to play something gave me confidence. Not that it was justified. lol

Kinda inclined to agree with GP on this. You either outgrow and leave behind your music teacher(s), or, at best, you eventually become one yourself - teaching theory to those who "might" have the gift.
