  1. I don't have a legit copy of MA2 (yep, shame, shame), but my vinyl copy of MA1 bought in '98 or '99 has nothin' for a track list. Mountain Bed is truly a stunning song. The best live version I've heard is from night 3 of last year's Residency shows. Look for the Dewey AUD on the torrent sites, it's worth your time. One of the VC'ers from Italy (I think) also put together some beautiful artwork / CD covers for all 5 nights. True as that is about Jay's persuasion, I believe Jeff has really owned these songs for a long time, and made them his own. :thumbup

Definitely the best. I copped the insane full-band one for my sig, hope it's ok with Richie... Oh, and you almost forgot this one....
  3. Also, Blind Boys Of Alabama - Higher Ground And some guilty pleasures; Dido - Life For Rent, and Kid Rock - Rock N Roll Jesus.
  4. Another Side of This Life: The Lost Recordings of Gram Parsons In The Beginning - Townes Van Zandt
  5. I can't do "best", 'cause I haven't heard everything. I can only say what affected me the most. Leonard Cohen - 10 New Songs Wilco - YHF Iron & Wine - Around The Well Bob Dylan - Modern Times Wilco - AGIB My Morning Jacket - At Dawn Ryan Adams - Heartbreaker Beck - Sea Change Ryan Adams - Easy Tiger Radiohead - In Rainbows Wilco - Sky Blue Sky Mark Knopfler - Kill To Get Crimson Golden Smog - Another Fine Day Sufjan Stevens - Michigan Loose Fur - BAITUSA Ray Lamontagne - Trouble Lucinda Williams - Essence Lucinda Williams - World Without Tears Marah - Angels Of Destruction! Mark Knopfle
  6. Brian Wilson - Smile Iron & Wine - Around The Well David Gray - Lost Songs
  7. +1 But you have to admit, Matsui OWNS Pedro's ass. Wow.
  8. Interesting. I think I'd be inclined to argue that he has a ton of material and would have no difficulty banging out an album of solo originals, even a full disc's worth of songs no one's ever heard. He'd have no problem getting the musicians he wants to play on it...it would sell ok...it would probably receive a decent reception with critics. I think the issue is that Jeff is both image-conscious and quite self-aware. Collaborating helps keep his ego in check and maybe prevents him from getting too self-obsessed about his songs, and keeps things real (and fun). He seems realistic about h
  9. I guess VC'ers had no love for Moulin Rouge or Chicago? What about Brokeback Mtn.?
  10. I like Another Fine Day better than those two, and Jeff's input on AFD was minimal since he was too busy that year. Yes..O'Rourke is a major part of the genius behind Loose Fur, not to mention his work with SY and Wilco. His solo stuff is great too.
  11. I would've included At Dawn, but I think it came out in '98 or '99....
  12. I've been wondering lately, whether Jeff will release a solo record at some point in time.
  13. Nice to see some Hamiltonians come out of the closet. I've lived out there for 8 yrs now. My time is split between Toronto (work) and Dundas (kids) these days. I'll definitely be there at HPT, wouldn't miss it for anything. My daughter has performed on that stage a bunch of times, I like the venue a lot. Will have to look for tix in the new year, I'm too broke right now. Is this the band's first ever show in The Hammer?
  14. We agree on two & even their positions...I think I'd go 1. YHF 2. Ten New Songs 3. Sea Change 4. Around The Well 5. Modern Times with honourable mentions for Heartbreaker, Essence, Michigan, Another Fine Day, Icky Thump and In Rainbows.
  15. Yes it should. No record ever hit me as hard as YHF. I became a Wilco addict at 0:24 of that album.
  16. Dammit yes x2. Forgot about both of these...loved them. Curse Of The Golden Flower could be added to the list of Chinese classics I posted earlier...I thought the plot and some of the acting were a bit weak, but it was still very worthwhile seeing in HD/Blu-Ray. The budget for flowers must have been in the millions for that film. Also: Requiem For A Dream, Sexy Beast, Persepolis, Coraline, Half Nelson, Secretary, The Prestige, 8 Mile, Maria Full Of Grace, We Own The Night, and Once. Also to add to my docu's: Born Into Brothels, The Fog Of War, Man On Wire, The Corporation, Supersize
  17. +1 on Sideways, I loved it when Sandra Oh got off her Honda and punched him in the face. Also enjoyed Juno quite a bit, Whip It not so much. The Wrestler was good, so was Doubt. Casino Royale deserves mention as the best Bond film in a long, long time. The one film I tried to watch three times and couldn't stay awake through was Reservation Road. For films where I recognized the brilliance but found no enjoyment in watching them, Magnolia has to take top spot. A.I. wasn't far behind...just dragged on and on, I couldn't wait for it to end. Most disappointing sequels the family had
  18. Ah yes....how could I forget High Fidelity and About A Boy. Both classics.
  19. FTFY War On War, Pot Kettle Black and ITMWLY have to be mentioned too-- and all three are AMAZING to hear live. Radio Cure is a superb, superb song, I just find Jeff's voice the studio version a bit painful to listen to sometimes. It's too real.
  20. I also enjoyed- The Last King Of Scotland Into The Wild The Constant Gardener Little Miss Sunshine Volver Iron Man X-Men Two Lovers Hustle & Flo Paradise Now We Own The Night Flags Of Our Fathers 3:10 To Yuma Meet The Fockers Reign Over Me The Matrix Reloaded 25th Hour Crash Narc Million Dollar Baby The Wedding Crashers The Hangover City Of God Star Trek ..and if documentaries count, Bowling for Columbine When The Levees Broke The Hunting Of The President The March Of The Penguins Shake Hands with the Devil: The Journey of Roméo Dallaire Summit On Ice I'm Your Man The Boys Of Baraka
  21. Will look at the refresher list later, but offhand and in no particular order.... Ying Xiong (Hero) Shi mian mai fu (House Of Flying Daggers) Wo hu cang long (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon) The Departed Slumdog Millionaire Black Hawk Down Match Point Eastern Promises Gladiator Inglorious Basterds Walk The Line Ray The Visitor Blood Diamond Tropic Thunder Cadillac Records Almost Famous Bend It Like Beckham Gangs Of New York The Bourne Identity No Direction Home I'm Not There LOTR I - III
  22. I know these things must be hard to pull off, but it seemed we were getting live streams more often on the SBS tours..only one to my knowledge on the W(TA) tour so far (Dublin). Would be great if they could broadcast the Milan show with Grizzly Bear.
  23. The winners would have to meet somewhere neutral and be driven in a van blindfolded to "the secret location".
  24. I think Glenn's kit is in a separate room (sound booth). Check wilcoworld -> Loft link and look around.
