    Tweedy on CBC Q

Hey Kalle, where are you sitting on Wed.? We're 6th row on the far right (Pat's side, damn I just hope we can see Glenn ok!). If you see 2 tall people guzzling beer before the show, say hi. I got Wilco gifted & I'll be wearing a brand new groovy green shirt.

    Tweedy on CBC Q

Maybe that's because Jian is "jolly" but comes across as a bit of a know-it-all twit. (imho) Jian is a musician, but I think Strombo makes a much better interviewer. Mind you Ghomeshi got the Leonard Cohen exclusive. At least an interview is finally happening; when Wilco was in town supporting Neil Young I wondered why neither of these guys picked them up. Wonder if they'll play some tunes in the studio. Roll on Massey!!
  3. It's not that simple. What kind of player is it..does it have a line level output or just phono (carridge) level?
  4. Wow. I find it hard to believe more than half a dozen people there could make the transition from Redneck Woman to Bull Black Nova. Bizarro... Pretty good set though, the band seemed to win some folks over with the rest of the set. BBN probably blew a few minds but just didn't quite seem to fit in there. I like how Jeff used his Belleville roots banter to repel that truck stop biotch.
  5. I must've got Gretchen Whatsherhead on the stream, Jesus that woman needs a fast forward button. That shit is intolerable. I guess the good news is that our boys are up next....
  6. Thanks for sharing. It seems a little ironic to me that Jeff would open with BBN at Farm Aid. But I suppose it's more of a metro/urban thing of late, not so much a Willie and Neil thing like it used to be(?). Anyways gonna try and watch the clips.

    Anvil

Well apparently the film caused an Anvil revival of sorts and they ended up doing a real tour afterwards and made a bazillion pesos. Coupla Jewish kids from Scarberia, their luck had to turn eventually... The problem I had was all the moaning and whining from Lips. The drummer kicks ass, and he seemed humble too. Lips just wouldn't shut his fucking mouth, and his lack of major league talent (and IQ) got to be grating after a while. Still a pretty nice film though, I wish them well.
  8. Hmmm, apart from Misunderstood and a couple others that setlist looks almost the same as the Lewiston NY show in July. Was hoping they'd mix things up a bit more after returning from the Europe leg of the tour. Still I am really looking forward to the Massey Hall show next week.
  9. Watch this, it will blow your mind. Incredible...
  10. LINK BR fans I think will really like this, I heard six of the new songs at the Amphitheatre show in August, thought all of them were stunning. If you dig the style, it seems Keelor and Cuddy can still write amazing songs. Btw, Bob Egan has been with this band almost a decade now...
  11. I would've put Sea Change and 10 New Songs up much higher, but overall this list isn't too bad. Easy Tiger should have made it, but Ryan did ok. Notably omitted (for me) were Mark Knopfler, Paul Simon, Loose Fur, and Golden Smog. Also this year's Iron & Wine release. The Knopfler/Emmylou album was a thousand times better than what Kraus and Plant did (was there even any original material on that?).
  12. Hi Kolja, Judging by the volume of for sale posts on Craigslist, it seems the ticket "brokers" got in big-time on these shows (as usual). Most of the asking prices are pretty outrageous. But the second night was added and it took several weeks for the second show to be listed as "sold out" on the Wilco site. Honestly, Wilco is still nowhere near a "huge draw" in Toronto. If I were in your shoes I'd go through the posts on CL and Kijiji, and make some offers (note the tickets all in would have cost you around $120-130/pair from ticketbastard). Failing that, I'd just go to the show on the n
  13. Hey thanks. Just a bump for the Sunday morning crowd. Tix are still available for Thurs Oct.15th...
  14. I think Both Jeff and Tony sincerely do their best. Last year they made it to Rochester (NY), Montana, Alaska, and a bunch of other places for the first time. They came through most of Canada with the Neil Young tour last Nov. I don't think they have a bias for Toronto over any other places, it just has a strong fan base and good proximity for a minor bus caravan detour.
  15. Yeah, same for David Gray, Lynyrd Skynyrd and probably a bunch of others. No money to risk for coming through I guess? Maybe they haven't heard our recession isn't as deep here as it is elsewhere. Not yet anyway.
  16. My sense from the residency shows, KT, and bootlegs is that they do step it up a few notches for the home crowd. But others with more experience may have a different viewpoint. Seeing the band in Chicago is definitely on my wish list...
  17. So what does it mean, they think we have another big resource to plunder? Looking for more funding from POTUS? Isn't this more important news? I'm no scientist, I just don't know why these discoveries are that relevant. We already fucked up the planet here, leave well enough alone.
  18. Thanks for the kind words, it really means a lot to me folks. I certainly am not pushing on her about this (or anything else). My kid sister who went through a similar experience (and is now a social worker) always tells me, "kids don't want to hear 'I love you', then want to see proof of that." This is just another attempt to connect and do something memorable together. She'd rather see Taylow Swift, but I'm her dad and I know what she needs!! lol Her initial answer (by email) was "ummmm... maybe. I don't really like Wilco that much." She's been dying to shop at the Eaton Center which
  19. This show is now listed on Wilcoworld.net as SOLD OUT. Reason for sale, I found floor tix for 10-14. A lot of people seem to be swapping nights... My tickets are in the Left side gallery (upper balcony), row G, on the Nels side of the house. Face value = $45 ea plus $11 service charges. I could split the s.c.'s and eat the other costs if it's a smooth deal with a fellow VC'er. So call it $100 for the lot. Prefer to deal with cash and meet in-person somewhere in GTA/Hamilton area; anywhere from Scarborough and west. I get around TO a lot and commute to Hamilton 3-4 times a week, so it
  20. Isn't it a little early in the day to be that blitzed?
  21. Thanks y'all. I found the link and requested Misunderstood for her. Fingers crossed for all the rest of it.
  22. Online forums are different things to different people. Aman is the straight shooter type who wants to cut through the BS and find relevant info. For others it's more like sitting around in a bar shooting the shit. Time well wasted.
  23. Greed indeed. It would at least be nice if bands set a chunk of tix aside at a student price and one for people who are positively unemployed. It's supposed to be art, for fucks sake.
