I'm guessing that'll be Jeff Beck then? First thought was Clapton but I guess it'd be dissing the rest of his career to call him a 60's legend, lol.

WOW. That sounds like a great show. I guess I'll watch for the dvd of this...

Cool..this looks like a compact version of the Philip Norman bio.

couple more good ones just for the fun of it

Sounds like I have to check out El Goodo. If acid was the mother of all fusion, then in my opinion these would also qualify for the list.

Agree about Forever Changes as an essential. Same for West Coast Pop Art Experimental Band. Ok, I was never a big acid head (born too late), but I think some consideration should be given to other highly influential psych albums -- offhand, you need SOME Bob Dylan, he was using LSD before almost any musician (Blonde On Blonde probably my pick), Buffalo Springfield, The Who (Tommy), Velvet Underground (Loaded?), David Bowie (Ziggy Stardust), maybe Flying Burrito Brothers. Fast forward to "my" era and you at least need Laurie Anderson's Big Science. I'm sure there are many more, need more c

Thanks you guys, I agree with both comments and appreciate you comrades taking some of your time and energy to even think about the situation (which I haven't even described in much detail). Lauren you are right that my tone about Liz's musical interests doesn't fit the picture very well here, and reflects pretty badly on me as a parent. In general I support ALL her choices, and have done my best not to tease her or try to push my agenda on her. When I say "penance" I am actually not joking though, I've managed of late to hurt some of my loved ones in significant ways (not intentionally), a

:thumbup One of the best songs ever. -
Thanks for asking....she still hasn't really spoken to me in almost six weeks. So no, the concert didn't happen this time, and I do still need your vibes. Things are tough but I've been through worse, and we'll get through this. I do have a feeling at some point I'll be taking her to see someone like Pink or Taylor Swift, as part of my parental penance.

Saw them after the show too, it was a nice design but I can't support what these guys are doing. I looked at two of the guys closer for some kind of "sign" they were even real Wilco fans....and got Nothin'.

Oops....almost forgot the band that time almost forgot to remember. Blue Rodeo's almost-out double album is really good. Offhand "Don't Let The Darkness In Your Head" and "One Night Left In Heaven" really blew us away at the August show in Toronto. Looking forward to getting this on vinyl soon. -

Several off W(TA) would be on my list of course (OW, CD, EE), as well as at least one or two from Backspacer (for sure Just Breathe and Gonna See My Friend). I&W's disc is FULL of classics, but it's a compilation of earlier recordings and demos. I will also take a minority opinion and put forward Muse's "Uprising", I think it's a pretty great tune. Seeing David Gray tonite and maybe something from his new disc will resonate, I haven't really heard it yet. -
When I start a Wilco tribute band it'll be called... The Wilclones
-
Yes it will, unless you're deaf....or unless, as Leo suggested, the rest of your gear is SO limiting that it can't reproduce the improvements.
-
I enjoy CBC, listen to it a lot in the car. Jian ain't my cup of tea though. Jeff sounded really hesitant in this interview, like he was bored or really tired.
-
Speaking of which.... the Sundazed reissues of the early Dylan albums in MONO are all very worthwhile, and not expensive either. An original Mono will set you back a lot of money.
-
Vinyl can be fun in and of itself, but if one is interested in high fidelity sound, the post above is very misinformed.
-
That's the spirit! Just give me 20 minutes with your 1964-70 box(es) and I'll relieve you of that burden?
-
I like I&W's Around The Well more....but, it isn't exactly "new" material.
-
Say huh? I thought I had a trademark on this moniker...
-
I recall reading in Kot's book that John was a guitar tech for Uncle Tupelo, and eventually was invited to join the band....not sure if they knew each other before that.
-
The "big session" comment is interesting. Whereas the main W(TA) session was kind of born organically out of the 7WC New Zealand trip, this one sounds very "planned"....which leads me to wonder who they may be lining up to be involved. A return of Jim O'Rourke perhaps?
-
What's this venue like...? Good sound? What's the capacity of the place? Thinking about a road trip. Merci.

Can't answer for Neon...but in my opinion, Y&I is a lovely composition, only it's written much more in "Feist's style" rather than Tweedy's. It's a bit saccharine, but it has more than enough minor chords to hold my interest. I enjoy that song quite a lot. The only part that sounds "lightweight" to me is the drumming-- but I've never heard W(TA) on a decent stereo at high volume, where you can probably hear clearly the subtleties of what Glenn's trying to do. Some different arrangements would be nice, maybe more piano and harmonies (get John and Pat's voices into the mix)?
