Listened to some of this on Sunday... predictably mediocre. 102.1 used to be a great radio station, I grew up on it that was how I first heard The Clash and so many others....ummmm, I guess that was a long time ago. Always been billed as "the" alternative station in Toronto but lately they play the same mainstream sets as everyone else, same beer advertisers, etc etc. Anyway, not a single tune here from Wilco, UT, Pavement, Sonic Youth, Elvis C., Yo La Tengo. One Beck song. Nothing from Nas, Biggie, Fugees. Barely an independent label band to be found. Even Canadian bands are grossly un

+1 and Thank God my son has outgrown them! Took my kids to see Wiggles a few years back, it cost a small fortune. Btw I was at Lewiston too....see u in Toronto. Bringing my 12yo daughter this time, her first big rock concert. Wilco shows are the best value in all of music.

Didnt realize at first but I found out Deb and Dex are married in real life...!! I think Dexter is probably the best show on tv-- the best show since Deadwood was canceled anyway. But....I havent watched The Wire yet. Uh, its on my to-do list.

While we're nitpicking, I would also scrap a couple of the top 20 to allow War On War and ITMWLY in there.

Uck. This dismays me Lauren. I fully hear you on the sonic overkill that's hurting some of the live material currently-- heard it clearly in Lewiston (Nels' side) where the sound on that side was brutally bad, amps overdriven, unwanted feedback ruining even some of the gentler songs, a sonic mess. I do think it was the venue more than the band (and where I was sitting), but the balance was way off at times. But....darling, please don't throw the baby out with the bathwater here. SITA is as great an angsty pop anthem as anything I can think of offhand, and a superb live vehicle for Wilco.

Very happy to see Poor Places chart so high. Ditto for Mountain Bed. Can't really argue with the collective polling here...but personally I think New Madrid and Muzzle of Bees should really be nudged aside in favor of Reservations and Shot In The Arm. I could live the rest of my life not missing those two but I couldn't last three months on a desert island without the other two. And I believe (objectively) that they are both far more significant accomplishments in the Tweedy canon, IMO YMMV FTW. But hey life ain't perfect. Great job Mike.

I agree. Which in my case means I end up defending the band and sounding like a sycophant, when in real life I'm mostly cynical and jaded about almost everything. (but not about you)

Weird how a band that was so huge (and still has a large & loyal base) doesn`t chart higher. Also ironic is how they held out touring in the past because of ticket price gouging.....the show they played 2 weeks ago in Toronto was in a medium sized outdoor venue and sold out in minutes; even the lawn tickets were being traded at 400 bucks a pop. With that kind of demand they could have sold ten times the number of tickets here this year. (same for Leonard Cohen)

Wilco fans mystify me. Of course I am one, so I guess I don`t have to look too far to feel confused. WTA isn`t the best anything. It takes a shitload of behind the scenes work to produce a record nowadays. I appreciate that the band has been touring incessantly, getting the new songs together, and got it all done and delivered 25 months after SBS. A lot of bands obsess for months, even years over a record. Probably Wilco could have made this a better record, but who cares? The perfect Wilco experience is when the band performs their stuff in front of your face, blow the roof off the jo

Whip It comes out in a month, with Ellen Page...wonder if there`s any Wilco music in it. Anyway, the cast is good and it looks like a fun little movie to see with my daughter (who thinks EP is God-- we enjoyed them being on SNL together last year or whenever it was). Apparently the love interest is played by Landon Pigg. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1172233/

It was a pretty awesome Spiders, heard nyctaper`s recording which is on etree. Also I read that this was Wilco`s biggest ever audience (12000) for a regular, non-festival show.

Maybe time to change screen name to IRememberDeBoobs.

I hope this isn`t a repost. Jack and Meg made a very unorthodox survey of Canada in 2007, and this is the film document - world premiere at the Toronto Int`l Film Fest. Under Great White Northern Lights to debut September 18 in Toronto. http://pitchfork.com...doc-sneak-peak/ two screening times- 9pm on 18th and 6pm on 19th. http://www.tiff.net/...stripesundergre

He tries eh. Thanks for the clarifying posts.

Jeez, I think I need a couple grams of whatever Paul's been smoking.

That`s indeed a great setlist. Please give us details on the Jesus-Bono comment.

I`ll give it a 6.5 for Seegerness (not really a good thing), but only a 2.8 for Springsteenness and 3.25 for Mellencampishness. Sorry, most of DMB sounds like dumbed down anthem rock to me. I`d rather listen to Queen if I`m in that mood.

So true. SBS has its' own vibe, a very unique and distinctive sound, even for a Wilco record it's kind of "different". The recording and production values on SBS have been discussed here a lot, it might just be worth noting again how restrained Nels sounds, especially in light of recent comments that he can sometimes overpower the band in concert (which I agree with to some extent, tho I still enjoy the hell out of most of his performances). Also, again here are Jeff's 'official' comments on SBS song by song. http://www.nonesuch....ms/sky-blue-sky

Huh, interesting move. Personally I think Harvest Moon is one of the strongest NY albums of the last 20-30 years.

Exodus. Pretty much everything by The Doors, The Who, CCR, Bowie, T-Rex, Talking Heads.

Setlist posted here...will try to post more about this later. Anyone else go last night? http://www.bluerodeo.com/forums/thread/355271.aspx

I would just give them KT and if they don't get it, they don't get it.

Excellent news.

I was really asleep at the switch for this...just saw the band in Lewiston and figured the Massey tix would be really expensive like they were in 2007. Anyway I just got two in the gallery for the 15th and I'm gonna take my 12-year-old daughter to her first Wilco show! Hopefully this show sells out fast and I can try to 'upgrade' to better seats for one of the shows. Already looks like there isn't much left for the 15th.
