  1. I hear more George Harrison than Robbie on that...guess I'll have to spin that one and hear it again.
  2. Someone who can talk him down from the panic attack. (just my guess.. I've had a few of these in my life)

    One Wing

We subscribe to the same theory. I believe One Wing will become a highlight of the live shows, it's a very special song.
  4. Hey I like it. Now my SO will have another member of the household to accuse when her iPhone goes AWOL. Thanks for sharing.
  5. Lord, yes. Those Cline Birds might be the most beautiful guitar sounds I have ever heard come out of my speakers. I want 5 more minutes of fade out, Reservations style. Hmm, I tend to agree with Dude.. Glenn is doing a lot more here than on SBS. mp3 sound probably isn't helping our impression of his work. But since you mentioned it, yeah...that was the hit that struck me like lightning from God and made me a Wilco fan for life.
  6. Yep a fair review without undue apologetics. The only thing that bugs me in these reviews is the constant allusions to mass appeal or widespread commercial success. Isn't the band "successful enough" for everyone yet? (in an era dominated by 'talents' like Jessica Simpson and the Jonas Brothers)
  7. Definitely Old Montreal and Boul St.Denis are nice places to walk around. So is Mont-Royal (the mountain). The BYOB restaurant area around Duluth St is pretty cool, I like this place a lot. Also don't forget to hit one of the original bagel 'factories' in Outremont. Long lines on a Sunday morning but it's worthwhile. Great city. I believe the jazz festival starts in a few weeks or so too.
  8. That cover is hilarious. I've given up on crap like this. If RS did do a feature on Wilco, it would be hopelessly retarded and pigeonhole our boys into some kind of roots/Americana niche culture purveyors, oh how quaint. Instead of just coming out and saying the band fuckin' smokes, which RS' editors are apparently too stupid to realize. No thanks. Well they could redeem themselves with a cover and headline touting "America's best band"...but they missed the boat and it would be tough to explain that after so many years wouldn't it. Even in terms of national pride this situation is a t

    Anvil

Pretty interesting doc, I didn't know anything about these guys even though they're from here. Lips is a bit annoying after a while, but these guys are so sincere it's hard not to admire them. Definitely a very strange career they seem to have had.

    Bull Black Nova

Trouble always ensues when Jeff drives out of state?
  11. Gotta agree, all the evidence points in that vein. Besides, he inspires Jeff and the other band members. If it reaches the point where Jeff needed a Sarah McLachlan in the band to keep things going, then I might reconsider. But Nels is an amazing musician and a class act all the way. He blends in superbly and adds a lot wherever he can. Both John and Jeff have called this phase "an embarassment of riches". Someday everyone will realize how great we have it right now...and no one will admit to all the whining and bitching.
  12. Surprised I'm the only one with War On War so far. 3 is tough though... I cheated.
  13. I doubt it. And neither should we.
  14. Studio- She's A Jar, Sunken Treasure, Jesus etc Live- War On War, Via Chicago, Misunderstood There, I broke the rules.
  15. I havent seen anyone at a Wilco show not having fun (demonstrably), or otherwise being a snob or a hipster. Maybe he's only seen Wilco crowds in the Ashes film. (which doesn't really capture the spirit of being in the crowd at a live show) Ah well....who cares.
  16. What a shite article. Tried to read it and nearly choked on my hipster coleslaw when I read this-- "Wilco are a country-rock band with long, jazz-inspired, improvisational piano and guitar solos. DMB are a folk-rock band with long, jazz-inspired, improvisational violin and saxophone solos. Honestly, we could compare snippets from the middle of either band's "jams" and they would be indistinguishable from the other band's jams

    Bull Black Nova

Bit of googling turned this up. Bull Black Nova silhouetted by a setting sun... http://image.superchevy.com/f/16841221/suc...sunset_view.jpg
  18. One thing is true, Jeff has put an epic finale on 3 of the last 4 records now..not unlike Golden Slumbers/Carry That Weight/The End. Maybe he's a fatalist and does it "just in case" this is the last....who knows. But I don't believe it is planned as the end.
  19. Yeah Wilco loves us baby. Thanks a lot, and sorry for the bickering.
  20. Nice touch, it really is christmas week in wilcoland. And we're a bunch of screaming little brats.
  21. Are you for real? Sunny has a Loose Fur hook, and at least some relation lyrically to Monday. It's a great Wilco pop song. But I'm a dad, wtf would I know.
  22. Will I need some Advil? We're gonna watch this tonight. Not metal fans but this film is supposed to be outstanding..? http://www.anvilmovie.com/

    Bull Black Nova

I love the albums (all of them). All I meant is there aren't that many Wilco studio tracks that are "definitive" for me, i.e. where a great live version didn't better it. Tie this to my comment on BBN, an interesting song that I think will be a lot more interesting in concert. I'm so misunderstood...
