terrible 128kbps rip with skips tho waiting for the band to put up a higher quality stream soon
-
so... i know a few folks at our local MPR indie station that got to hear the new album on Friday and said it's unbelievable and sounds nothing like the last record thank god
-
new material is quite different... and his new touring band is 7 or 8 members now
-
if i decide to go to the box office and avoid the fees ($79 before fees), it'll mostly be because Glen is opening too
-
he's the only person i've paid over $100 for ($120 and $140, but both were 2nd and 4th row tickets), but i agree $150-250+ is just ABSURD
-
yes sorry, social anxiety is it the snowflake line? that seems to be the one people are getting hung up on... he addressed that on twitter a while back. fwiw, if you look through the first record and EP, there's some lines that are pretty damn bad on paper too tho (like i said, i never really paid his lyrics any attention even on the first record)
-
if the melodies and harmonies move me, i don't need there to be that great of lyrics usually.
-
i actually dig the lyrics to Helplessness Blues and i've never really paid much attention to Robin's lyrics before. it's clearly about his antisocial disorder "If I know only one thing is that everything I see of the world outside is full of such wonder that often, I barely can speak Yeah, I'm tongue-tied and dizzy and i can't keep it to myself what good is it to sing helplessness blues? Why should I wait for anyone else"

the Rock The Garden lineup is always pretty fun... last years wasn't amazing (MGMT/Sharon Jones/OK Go/Retribution Gospel Choir), but previous years have been: Decemberists/Calexico/Yeasayer/Solid Gold Andrew Bird/New Pornographers/Cloud Cult/Bon Iver David Byrne/Antibalas Wilco/The Bad Plus/Fog Medeski, Martin & Wood Sonic Youth/Stereolab i have a strong feeling Phantogram might be the second act this year
-
that Kurt Vile album is fabulous imo. his vocals sound like Lou Reed meets Thurston Moore, not like those are exactly the most "in key" singers ever (plus, i'll take his vocals over the nasally whine of the RAA singer any day... (i do like them tho) oh well. still my favorite album on the year, and easily the best of his 4 albums.
-
SHUSH YOU. they played Chicago last year... last time they played Minneapolis? October 2008 they can add a 2nd show on the 16th then

-
right... minus 'Picky Buggers', those are among the great songs i alluded to, but overall i think it's def their weakest effort if i'm being honest. still a really good album though
-
nah. the last one is one of their best Leaders wasn't all that great besides a few songs imo. my faves are Asleep In The Back, Seldom Seen Kid & Cast of Thousands.
-
one of my favorite bands, and I like it a lot.. but hoping it grows on me more. would put it at #3 or #4 in their catalog at this point.
-
def still my fave record this year so far. listened to it on vinyl over the weekend... SO good.
-
as someone who isn't loving the new one, this is good news...
