if you combined Kid A & Amnesiac i could come up with a very solid 10-11 track album that would hold up fairly well w/ the rest of their catalog, but seperately wasn't too big on either record.

i LOVE it... prolly the best thing Petty has done since Wildflowers
-
the warbler that sounds somewhat like Bowie is Spencer, the Beck meets Iggy Pop dude is Dan
-
feel pretty much the same way i did when it came out (with a little less interest admittedly) definitely my favorite thing they've done post OKC
-
i thought 'Bright Like Neon Love' got quite a bit of press in '04, but maybe just in certain circles. always loved the cover art: the new one is a bit TOO too New Order-ish for me at times, but ah well
-
that new Cut Copy is definitely sweet have you heard their '04 record 'Bright Like Neon Love' Rich? i think it's even better myself
-
that is correct, it's pretty killer
-
soundwise, it's actually not THAT far off their older stuff, certainly more than their last few. what records did you check out in full?
-
ah... i love this record, but wouldn't put it in their top 3 by ANY means... maybe top 5 though

i don't think her voice is THAT awful... plenty of bigger name indie acts with way worse vocals it's not great, but perspective here folks -
yeah... i'd agree that it's really solid overall but certainly doesn't touch Apologies (nor is there any song on here as good as I'll Believe, Shine A Light, Dear Sons & Daughters, and maybe This Heart's On Fire either.) while overblown and a bit long, the last song's payoff is definitely worth the long wait i think.
-
i think we played that at ours, or at the very least had a song of his on the mix i made...
-
that was ours

this record is a total mixed bag... Dan definitely wins the MVP of this record too, Spencer's tracks aren't nearly as great as his Apologies tunes and could mostly all be trimmed by a minute or more.
-
gotta say, both of those new songs on the Daytrotter session are fairly "meh". Cath is decent but Talking Bird is a total snoozefest
-
I'm Not A Kid Anymore = so Spoon it hurts, and i love it
-
nope, that's it
-
eh, it's really good but not nearly as good as that record was . the New Order influence is even stronger than on SoS too i actually prefer Bright Like Neon Love from 2004.
-
i like about half that record quite a bit. peopel were comparing her to MIA, but she's way way less annoying : vocals remind me of Tegan & Sara some at times

ah, missed that, but he did say MAYBE as he pointed out i don't really think it's genius, nor is it their best work, but it's still really great overall, save for a few songs
