my experience with VW live... i've seen them 3x now, twice at SXSW, and here in Mpls. one was quite average, one was above average, and the other was fantastic. as long as the crowd is super into their set and knows the songs/words well, you'll probably get a good show. they're far from an amazing live band, but they are all very talented musicians especially considering their ages. and Ezra's voice live is way better than on record even. nah, i'm pretty sure he has a new band called Fleet Foxes, not sure who this imposter on Evil Urges is...

i agree that the idea behind this thread is great, but you can post your blasphemy in here, no matter how crazy, without coming off like a total elitist jagoff too. sadly not everyone who has participated in this thread so far has been able to. and that's all i have to say on that matter -
that's just it, there is no big deal... either you like it and find it a very fun and somewhat sunny pop album or you don't. there's not really anything to "get" with Vampire Weekend in my experience.

they were a better Rock N' Roll band, especially live, but they were so not better songwriters that's one thing that amazes me about the Beatles, is while i think they're the best Rock band of all time, is that they rarely played live and even those live shows they did play never really garnered amazing reviews. -
bit too Disco for my taste, some of the song is good tho

haha, this is too awesome! justifies all the headaches of moving the server the lat few weeks also, Arcade Fire only have one member that actually grew up in Quebec, so i think they'd be disqualified on those grounds.

Peace Frog is probably their best song for me. the keyboards/organ on Light My Fire make that song incredibly grating. without them it'd be a pretty decent song, and just decent, not great. -
it's been out there for a while... NPR played it on All Songs a few weeks ago. it also unfortunately pales compared to the live take.

you do realize there's an Electric Fetus in St. Cloud too right?

maybe as a songwriter, no, he's also just really starting out... but as a musican, Liam is insanely talented. you have to see him live to fully realize just how though. he's a fucking incredible drummer. i think a lot of folks would like his old band Betchadupa a lot

exactly. funny thing is, since OKC i've always felt Radiohead were overrated, but they're still a favorite band of mine. -

there's a lot of douchebaggery going on in this thread. oh, but the Doors certainly do suck -

go see Liam live... if he doesn't convert you then, then it's not worth trying i don't get the Elliott comparison/comment whatsoever though...

2nd album had a few good songs, but overall was just too mellow/dull compared to the first

i think 2 long Nels Cline Singers sets in one night might just be a bit TOO taxing on my brain, regardless how diff they may be
