$45 to see Modest Mouse at a big sit down theater? no thanks
-
yeah, too bad the latest Shins record is fairly mediocre by their standards, and doesn't even REMOTELY touch Neon Bible popular != any good

Error message on subscription purchase
solace replied to what i once was's topic in Speakers Speaking In Code
there are no subscriptions... haven't been for a while now -
so this week they dropped to #19, which is better than i'd expected (figured 20-25), AND they beat Notoious BIG by one spot this week, instead of losing by one last week
-
Liz, wait until you hear The Well & The Lighthouse live in person... it might be one of the best songs live off the new record the crowd really gets into that one it's not a total fave of mine on the record (prolly only 2-3 that i like less), but it's totally worthwhile in concert
-
thing is, Voxtrot sound more like a UK britpop band than they do American (Belle & Sebastian + The Smiths), etc.
-
it's just shy of my top faves (Andrew Bird, Wilco, Arcade Fire, Dinosaur Jr.) that said, there's still yet to be a record that has blown my mind this year, as good as those are
-
surprised how much love the new LCD got from Pfork today. i love it, but 9.2 is a bit high. but at least they agree it blows the doors off the first actual full length (ie: the first disc)
-
definitely hasn't leaked yet (other than those first 3 tracks, which were a pretty sub-par rip)
-
no, the difference is, most people on here LOOOVED Midlake's last one... i think it's a pretty big consensus so far that the new Voxtrot is a letdown, even if enjoyable
-
that and i think the strings sound even more fake and processed on this new one than they did on Mothers
-
gotta disagree there Rise Up In The Dirty, Soft & Warm, and the title cut are my 3 favorite Voxtrot songs still to this date it's close though. like i'd give MSDW a 9, Wolves an 8.5, and this new one a 7-7.5 i also think that the production & sound on Mothers is better than anything else they've done too (especially the full length). the sound on Wolves leaves a bit to be desired at times.
-
pfft, don't compare the album to the EP's... the MSDW EP is just chock full of indie pop goodness
-
i liked 3 songs on Howl... so yeah, definitely like this one waaaaaaaaaaaay better it's their 2nd best already too
-
haven't restored them yet, sometime in the next week
-
had they released that, it'd have been one helluva record
-
most definitely old and not legit: http://www.rollingstone.com/artists/whites...stripes_tour_us confirmed to be false: http://pitchforkmedia.com/page/news/WHOOPS...h_America#41777
-
i have no doubts that they have announced a tour, or will be, but i have a feeling NME jumped the gun here and posted the wrong (old) dates, and the other places are just reporting it as news now too. yes there's a FEW dates that don't match up, but like 95% of it does (including the Street Scene festival), it's just too much of a coincedence
-
it's not legit, the page on NME is now blank: http://www.nme.com/news/the-white-stripes/27156

alright, the NME is apparently retarded, as these are exactly the same as the tour they did for Get Behind Me Satan 2 years ago. stupid fucking NME
-
there's 2 really good songs on the bonus EP like i said, i do like it, but it's not even close to one of the better records this year. like a solid 7-7.5 i'd say.
-
i might have to end my drought of not seeing them since 2000... sad thing is, i know the tickets are going to be $40+, and they're just not remotely worth that to me... ugh. maybe i can get on the guest list
-
yeah, i like a handful of tracks, but it may be his weakest to date (other than the first actual solo record). at least Sheets had a ton of energy.
-
i dislike Jeff's lazy vocals on the first part of it, but once the band comes in, the song kicks ass
