before the change to IPB3, yeah i just haven't had a chance to dig into the IPB3 skinning templates yet unfortunately. not a lack of ability, just time :/ i'll add it to my list though, working on a bunch of sites right now so i'm "in the mood" so to speak

never seen that artwork with the pass i designed and Johnny's poster, awesome

month and a half before i moved here

One Mississippi will always hold a huge place for me... i didn't get into it until '99, so when Lapalco FINALLY came out (after a 6 year gap between One Miss), i couldn't help but be let down. It eventually grew on me, but there's a few songs that are SO so cheesy (ie: You're Quiet) too. the opening trifecta of Tea->Birds Eye View->Sittin' Pretty alone makes One Miss an instant classic... you add in I'm Blessed, Crosseyed, Me Just Purely, Got No Secrets, Insects Rule, and Maginary Girl? forget about it. one of the best power pop albums of the last 2 decades imo
-
besides 2-3 songs (mostly the ones with the pastiche strings), i like this newest Brendan a LOT more than Alternative To Love One Mississippi will always be his best album in my book tho.

since Vol. 1 didn't have much effect on Matt's touring or solo records, i'm fine with a Vol. 2 already. it was a really enjoyable/fun listen.

(i know you can barely see that... but it's the new Beach House - Teen Dream) might be my favorite record of theirs yet... lovely
-
yeah, i think it's one of those albums that's just really solid/enjoyable without beating you over the head with excitement or energy. i don't even find it THAT catchy really either, but i've listened to the record on repeat on a few occasions.

i like it, but it's pretty hit or miss... meaning that the quality of rappers/vocalists outside of the Keys contributions varies GREATLY from song to song. there's 2 songs on here i've already had to start skipping. i wish it was mostly just Mos Def, Pharaoh Monche, RZA, Raekwon, & Q-Tip

i've gotten into that Real Estate record a lot the last few weeks... it's definitely pretty sleepy, and not exactly the most interesting music i've heard all year, but something about it just keeps me going back to it every so often, hard to explain. i could see them being dull live tho. nah, can't imagine him playing any Raconteurs songs outside of that band ever honestly besides, his solo stuff is way better ;D

it was FAB. one of my favorite times i've seen him out of 4-5x now. played a ton of stuff off all his albums (FOUR songs off One Miss!!!). closed the show with a "Tom Petty Marathon" of 'Listen To Her Heart' and 'American Girl' (w/ Cory Chisel) Cory was awesome too. didn't realize he's actually from the Iron Range in Northern Minnesota, just lives in Appleton, WI now. he talked about a bunch of shows he'd seen at First Ave (Rufus Wainwright, Cannibal Corpse, etc.)

seeing him w/ Brendan Benson @ First Ave tonight

just a guitarist i believe amusingly enough, he was one of the more energetic guys

saw them on Saturday here in Minneapolis... really boring live band who seemed like it pained them to be onstage playing music sadly. even Lust For Life had zero energy compared to the studio version (it seemed like they rushed through the song just to get it over with too, i'd guess it was maybe 1:45 long live) unfortunate because the record has grown on me quite a bit, to the point where i love 3-4 songs a TON (rest is kinda filler for me) my friend who saw them twice @ SXSW this past March said that of the 2 sets he saw, one was awful and one was quite good, so sounds like they're jus

waited for a proper rip rather than the crappy YouTube stream, but this thing is pretty damn BOSS

they KILLED tonight opening for Art Brut in Mpls. picked up a copy of both the Kanine release and the self-release with alternate artwork:

that backup is a manual process is all i'm saying... even as a computer nerd such as myself, i'm not the best about backups. and you cannot re-download purchases from the iTunes MUSIC or MOVIES store: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1469 it's amusing that you can re-download ANY purchased iPhone app from the App STore as many times as you want for free after you've purchased it, but not iTunes music/movies...
-
Mr. Heartbreak brings up another good point... if you somehow lose your digitally purchased files, you have absolutely NO backup... vs. the only way I can lose a physical CD/LP is theft or fire. i have a couple terabytes of storage and backup a ton of my computer files (music, photos, software, etc.), but i've still lost tons of things over the years, whereas the number of CDs i've had to replace can probably be counted on 2 hands.
-
THIS plus i just get annoyed at the iTunes Music Store on principle (at least they dropped DRM and are now mostly all 256kbps, it's a start) and that Apple still takes a pretty large chunk from bands.
-
hmm... i'd estimate i have around 4500 CD's and about 500 LP's, sure it takes up a sizeable amount of space in my office/man cave, but i wouldn't trade them for the world. i guess if i lived in a tiny studio apt or moved a lot i might feel differently, but the space factor seems seems a little weird to me personally, just my .02. i never have CD's lying around in my car (other than the occasional promo), i solely use my iPhone there, since i don't drive very often these days. thing is, i usually have downloaded the digital version (and often V0 quality) long before it's out in stores, so t

considering the price difference is often negligible (other than times like Amazon's deal of the day, etc.), i figure why pay for an inferior quality digital file without any physical artwork when I can buy the real thing for a few bucks more (often vinyl) and still have the digital copy for ease of use/computer listening, etc.?

the sound on this recording is SOOO good
-
not their best work honestly...

really enjoying the album quite a bit... Pfork review today was way too harsh. sure it's no 8 or 9, but christ...
