it's Andrew Kenny's new band... very similiar to AmAnSet, they're a bit more uptempo/upbeat http://www.myspace.com/thewoodenbirds

was at Fri & Sat's shows... Friday was the better show, but Saturday was certainly the most memorable PJ show i've ever seen (read: not best by any means, but certainly craziest/most fun).

HUUUUGE fan Know By Heart is in my top 10 of the 00's for sure. Wooden Birds are sweet too, saw them last Sunday again and Matt Pond was playing guitar with them on this tour!
-
hah! well... yes and no. it's self-released right now and being re-released on a label in January the self-release has a diff cover too:
-
loving the hell outta this

Julian Casablancas of the Strokes

this album is surprisingly great... 4 Chords of the Apocalypse has some pretty decent soul for a privileged white kid from NYC
-
even previously unheard and mostly improvisational instrumental pieces like these shows will feature?
-
i'll be at both Minneapolis shows as well. can't WAIT
-
hmm... through 3 songs i was honestly digging this record a LOT more than i would have ever expected... then 'Can't Stop Partying' Hit...
-
you can cover any song live, but venues do have to pay ASCAP royalties still small Bars/Venues just pay a flat ASCAP fee usually though, while larger venues submit royalty payments if a band covers another artists song. the flat fee is usually pretty minimal (like $3 for a show full of local acts) from what i've seen

actually it's not even the vocals that remind me of Queens (the songs don't have a TON of vocals to begin with), moreso it's the riffs & overall sound/vibe. that said, i'm hoping it's better than the last 2 Queens records at least
-
while i'm still pretty excited for this, everything i've heard from it, TCV doesn't really sound that much different than Queens of the Stone Age (whom i LOVE mind you). i'm sure i'll dig it, but not exactly expecting one of the better records of the year...
-
no shit? Turf on 11/5? not sure what i'm doing that night yet
-
admittedly i didn't spend as much time with their EP's, but their debut full length is freakin' impressive. i saw them open for (and back) Laura Marling & Johnny Flynn last fall sometime and dug 'em, but surprised how much i love the record.

starting to think there's no way this album won't be in my top 10 on the year.

Is this song as good as I think it is??

add in Gleam 1, Mignonette, & Carolina Jubilee as well. hopefully you've heard more than their latest album... not a good starting point at ALL. check out the 1st Gleam EP if you haven't heard it -

Soft Shock & Skeletons are prolly my fave songs on It's Blitz, but i dig Zero too

what a f'n dumbass post (the quoted one) even if one doesn't like the YYYs (i do, even if their latest record kinda bores me compared to their other stuff for the most part), Nick Zinner is a VERY good guitarist and Brian Chase is an amazing drummer, and Karen O is an amazing front woman, whether you like her vocals or not is beside the point. and this 321 guy/gal thought Jason Mraz was good: http://forums.viachi...ost__p__1372120 so....
