he had a full band the last 18 months? February 17th, called Hold Time. you can hear the title cut on his site and see the gorgeous artwork
-
Vetiver are great... can be a bit quiet sometimes in the wrong venue, but i dig 'em. they just signed to Sup Pop and yeah, they were up there around 11:15 on apparently
-
i'm digging it quite a bit so far... maybe not as much as his first yet. Neko guests on a few tracks, and there seems to be a bunch of other guests too.
-
for a few episodes:

if this was truly limited, i'd have ordered it by now, but it's being sold in stores, so it's not gonna be like Benaroya or Into The Wild vinyls necessarily
-
Brendan's best work imo is with Pearl Jam, and vice versa... so i'm excited
-
there's nothing wrong with it... just that they've done it better before themselves. nevermind that there's a ton of other bands who do it much better and are way more sincere. if you read the back story on how they got their start, they honestly aren't far off from being a packaged boy-band honestly (granted one that writes their own music) Sex On Fire, as a big dumb rock single, is a great song, but if you actually stop and read the lyrics, they're SO so terrible (even Caleb thinks so) yep. that's what this one reminded me of, an almost copy of the last one only mellower.

David Byrne & Bryan Eno
-
i quite love both. especially with Dosh & Jeremy
-
my hard CD copy came in the mail the other day and i thought it was a promo. forgot i'd ordered it way back when
-
i used to be... then realized how all my shit just sits in a box or on a shelf collecting dust but who am I kidding... if the wife is interested in the super deluxe and wants to split it with me, i'm sure we'll get it eventually as of now i'm thinking i'll stick w/ the deluxe CD
-
they'll be top 10 (maybe top 5) on the SOMB list too (and are #1 on More Cowbell's )
-
i got over my problem a few years ago
-
i like it, but it's not even the best WEEZER song ever made.
-
i just think that TPC kind of molded themselves into this Death Cab meets Decemberists (mostly just the vocals) hybrid band, whereas the EP's they had a bit more distinct and more original sound. you're right, they definitely write a catchy hook, no doubt
-
i dig the Tokyo one, but it was outside of my top 50. their EP's were way way better. it's not an awful list honestly... very scattered, but less pop-centric than he's done in the past.

scored some sweet tix for the Mpls show this morning!
-
ah yes... that was the other one... Subtitulo... but if i recall, i think Country Mouse was even more dull than that one... Nashville had 4 or 5 total gems, which is more than I can say about anything since. i got into Josh via Guster, as he opened for them here in 2000 and I fell in love w/ Home (was his latest at the time), then Under Cold Blue Stars, and later got into Nebraska.
-
while i've always found their sound to be pretty generic/dime-a-dozen, i still really love that Holy Roller Novocaine EP. but yeah, they've definitely proven w/ these last 2 albums that they're shooting for lowest common denominator generic arena rock. sadly it's working... i know TONS of people who only listen to hard rock/rock radio, who love Audioslave, Hinder, etc., and buy maybe 3 new albums a year, who LOVE these guys based on the last 2 records...
-
his best records IMO are pre 1972 (again, the album, not the year ) Home, Dressed Up Like Nebraska, & Under Cold Blue Stars are my favorites, followed closely by 1972 and a bit further down, Nashville. honestly the last 2-3 things have bored me to TEARS (the worst being that Country Mouse record... holy snoozefest)
-
he's been downhill since 1972 (the album, not the year ), but his Bedroom Classics are always worthwhile
-
than those records? yes... their most definitely is
