ugh... i can't justify $26 for the deluxe AND $22 for the LP sucks they couldn't have done a version of the LP w/ the instrumental CD
-
it's fine... My Lucky Day is better at least, but also not a great song
-
awesome.
-
it's a cover from the band Suicide Bruce played it a ton on the Devils & Dust Tour, neat that there's a studio version now. fuck. bobfrombob FTW
-
love it. it's up their w/ his best imo
-
i'll admit that a good chunk of my disappointment with their live set was sound issues, but after 10-15 minutes every song just sounded identical to the previous one too.
-
what he said.

yeah... hard to say on one listen through those clips (they're quite long though!), but it's sounding fantastic even more soulful & rootsy than Sirens, which i absolutely loved. sometime i'd like more stuff like In A Razor Town & The Magician tho... i think it's safe to say his tour w/ Son Volt rubbed off on them a bit too
-
oh shit, thanks!
-
truth be told... i found a lot of Mac's questions to be pretty music nerdy and as a result the interview was very akward. i chatted w/ a few of them after the last St. Paul show, they seem pretty nice.

good band! haven't heard this new one yet, but last one was great and they're pretty solid live too -
yes, see my original post super tight live

sometimes you have to just keep asking me over and over for things to sink in my head (just ask my wife ) actually i know, i definitely recall hearing the name for a few months before I ever bothered to check them out from various folks. i was a bit slow on the uptake on a lot of records between July & September with the new house crap. i've been playing catch up the last 2 months
-
sorry... wasn't hoarding it i promise but yeah, turned out great. I actually know Mac Wilson a bit, good dude.

Friend of mine who is a HUGE Springsteen fan turned me onto these guys last month. I'll admit i was a bit skeptical of all the blatant Springsteen-isms throughout the record, but once I got over that I was fully on board with these guys. We drove way out in the 'burbs last Tuesday to see them play a blistering 25 minute set opening for 3 shitty emo/mall punk bands (ok, Alkaline Trio were good at one time) and I was blown away by how tight they were for such a young band. I can easily see them opening for a much larger act next summer (hopefully they ditch the Warped Tour circuit bands soon).
-
i dig the record, but they bored the SHIT out of me opening for Fleet Foxes earlier this summer unfortunately :/

i am soooooooooooooooo out of tuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuune wiiiiiiiiiiith you.
-
no worries, now i'm kinda unsure myself since he's stated differentiating things to two different sources i'm guessing you're referring to the "out of tune guitar" on Skinny Love? it's an open tuning, fwiw, and played on a pretty rickety old resonator guitar, thus the "out of tune" type notes you'll hear at times on that song.

while it's not all great, there's some amazing gems on here. Ring Out and Redemption: 1 are stunning.
-
that was supposed to be "when you HAVE folks", not referring to anyone on here
-
well, i think it's hard to argue that Radiohead weren't one of the most lauded bands of the late 90's and early 00's, is all those people were referring to
-
well... when you folks claiming they are the Radiohead of the 00's, it's pretty hard to take those types of comments seriously. i dunno... people site their great melodies all the time, but many of the supposed great melodies just grate on me, and musically i don't really think they're all that inventive in the grand scheme. they're not a bad band, i just don't get the hype whatsoever, more than any band in the last 5 years
