  1. So excited about the Lyle Lovett/John Hiatt pairing! Looks like an awesome season!
  2. "Kamera" started playing as I walked into Noodles & Co. on Friday. I'm sure they planned it. Free birthday noodles + Wilco. Yes!
  3. Sorry for the delay. I hope your birthday was awesome!
  4. I had such a crush on Cy. That commercial and the horrible song remake drive me batshit. They sucked all the creepy out of the song. Or maybe I'm just pissed off that I'm in the age bracket where songs I loved 25 years ago are being used to sell sensible cars.
  5. Good choice! I read it a few months ago and eventually want to reread it. It's too soon, but I'm looking forward to the discussion.
  6. No story with this line has ever ended well for the fish. I've yet to give in to Clara Jane's fish-begging because I don't doubt for one second that we'd have a similar situation.
  7. I was sitting at my favorite coffeehouse this morning and had just finished eating a breakfast burrito when they started playing Elliot Smith. Of course, the foil from the burrito demanded attention: A hummingbird. I don't think I'll ever have a piece of foil in my hand and not turn it into something else.
  8. Yay to the Catch family! Jack looks rarin' to go. How long did it take Bailey to finish? Considering all the awesome smells along the way, I'm guessing she's still out there, dragging your dad along.
  9. Nice work, Chris. Being inept in all art forms except those involving yarn, I figured I'd just make myself sad and frustrated if I tried to make a tinfoil sculpture. But this afternoon, I was eating a burrito from Qdoba and when I was peeling back the foil, I was moved to create: She's a big-haired pregnant woman, flexing her muscles. She now lives on a shelf with the drumstick Glenn gave me last year, because the big-haired pregnant muscle-flexing tinfoil woman must reside next to a RSBF relic.
  10. I've got a peeling Wilco radiator sticker on an 8-year-old truck. Too poor to buy a new sticker.
  11. Thanks so much for posting the Hotel SnS clip, Brianne. What a perfect tribute!
  12. I think I'll knit another baby hat and send them to the hospital on Monday. You're missed a bunch, Nat.
  13. Poor Lilly. I hope she's returned, safe and sound, soon. Lots of vibes to her and your FIL.
  14. Not sure if I was given ketamine during my c-section, but my experience was definitely similar to yours, RaspberryJam. Waking up in the recovery room felt like a living nightmare. One of the nurses was telling another about her date the night before (which was Valentine's Day). Date Nurse was wearing dark glasses and I kept thinking I could see huge blackened eyes behind them. I had an emergency c-section after 32 hours of labor. I was pretty crazed by then from lack of sleep and pain (four epidurals with breakthrough pain). All through the surgery I couldn't breathe. I had a cold and by th
  15. That's definitely gloatable news! Have a great time!
  16. Just wait until they're about two years old. They'll think the bear suit is the most awesome thing ever!
  17. Congratulations, Uncle John! When will you be wearing the bear suit for them?
  18. I had a class that morning, and before I left the house I turned on the TV to check the weather report. That was right before the second plane hit. I tried to call my instructor but didn't get her. Not knowing what else to do, and not wanting to be stuck home alone, I went to class. I lived about a mile south of Lambert Int'l Airport in St. Louis at the time, and my class was on a campus to the north. To get there, I had to take the highway where the jets pass close by on their approach to land. Packs of jets coming in for landings. Our house was close enough that we had a constant hum from
  19. I still need to get the beef hook-up. Which makes me sound like I'm trying to get pregnant. I'm not!
  20. I hope you don't let her wear that on butchering day! Seriously, way too cute.
  21. Is this a joke? Have a great birthday, Jules!
  22. I saw him almost two years ago and loved the show. He was headlining, and Tristan Prettyman opened. It's true, he didn't interact much with the audience, but it was an intense, heartfelt performance. So much so that listening to his recorded stuff doesn't quite cut it for me anymore. I'm glad you decided to go; you'll get your $40-worth.
