Brand new record featuring Joe Pernice (Pernice Brothers) and Gerard Love (Teenage Fanclub). Not quite as wonderful as you would hope, but wonderful nonetheless. 4/5. Definitely worth picking up.

Anytime he shows up in anything, that thing is instantly 50x better. EDIT: I would love to see what he and Nigel Tufnel could do together.

What is the decade breakdown of your music collection?
PopTodd replied to remphish1's topic in Someone Else's Song
Without getting too specific, it probably breaks down with most stuff in my formative and peak years -- 70s-90s -- with good chunks in the 60s and 00s and then smatterings before and after all that. -

I guess that, at the time, I was in more of an experimental phase. Although, I still did love Uncle Tupelo (the band that taught ME to love the song and not just the jamming). AM just sounded, to me at the time, like a bar band. A GOOD bar band, but still a bar band and not the weathered, grizzled heartland warriors that UT and Son Volt sounded like. But, coming back to it, those are some pretty good songs. -
Can you believe that this is a real thing?

Oh yeah, and I saw Wilco's first-ever show at Lounge Ax. Was it their first-ever show, period, or was that in St. Louis? Whether it was or not, it was damn close. Anyway, it was my second show of the night, as I high-tailed it over to LAx right from a Pegboy show at The Vic, earlier that night. Tweedy opened the show with a solo/acoustic set. I remember him opening with "Gun" and then he did a few more tunes, before introducing the band. It was a good show. But, IMO, the acoustic stuff was the highlight, as I was never blown away by any of the A.M. stuff. Still, super happy to be there, as I w -

Hell! I forgot that this band is Canadian -- Vancouver. I love them so much and wish that they had put out more music in their short lifespan.

How could I forget: Blur and Pulp at the Vic, Chicago (cap. 1300) Parklife tour for the headliners (Blur); His n' Hers tour for Pulp. First that I had ever heard of the openers. They totally won me over. And then I saw them again when they were headlining…. Pulp at the Metro, Chicago (cap.1100) Different Class tour. Oh, baby!!! -
Strangest Guest performers you have seen at a show

I suppose this counts: Local band Falstaff (featuring former Shrimp Boat member Ian Schneller) used to have their friend Young come up on stage with the band at some point to sit in with them and do… something while the band played. One time it was strike a triangle. Once. Another time he sat on a chair in the middle of the stage and made toast. Another time it was draw something that he didn't show to the crowd. Always odd and always fun. While I never saw Shrimp boat , I understand that he used to do similar things with that band, too.
