And to this Highland Park boy, in particular. Never met him, but just knowing that he haunted my old haunts brings it a little closer to me than it otherwise would have been. Still, a gigantic loss for the world of comedy, nonetheless. A genius. Rest in peace.

Until I got my Tele a couple of weeks ago, I wasn't playing anything but acoustic either, for the most part. And I agree: it's made me a better guitar player -- working out solo/acoustic arrangements of my OWN tunes.

This is the only stomp box that I use: For nasty, nasty solos and a few other things, it's dead-perfect. On the higher settings, you can actually hear the signal breaking apart. Damn impressive. Yeah, I know that it's not a "boutique" pedal or anything, but I love it. Although, I have to admit that, for what I am doing these days, it's not so practical. I probably need something more subtle like that Sarno Earth Drive pedal that I posted about on page 1. And, I used to have one of these things, too: Yeah, the original Russian-built model that came in the big, wooden box. A thicker, meatier

Chicago band that I just discovered and am really digging. Muscular punk/post-punk stuff that is RIYL: The Strokes, Parquet Courts, with an SST influence and more Midwest muscle. I know that it's early, but first impressions tell me that this record might be sticking around when I am making my best of 2014 list this year. Maybe not at the top, but I can't see myself NOT still digging it. Cool thing... they are streaming all their music and offering it all for free DL at their site: http://www.thethons.com/product/thirty-foot-snake-download/

I'm bringing it into the studio with me next week to track a solo. It will be perfect! And sounds great just playing it in the basement. -
Emitt. Nice!

THIS Friday night -- 2/21I'll be playing solo/acoustic.Info: HERE Yeah, I have a post in the other forum, too. But was hoping to get a little more visibility here. I don't gig much, so I hope that some of you folks who are local (Chicago) can make it. Mods: If you feel that I am violating the rules, I understand if you remove this. But I hope that you don't. Thanks.
