  1. * Playlist full of Martin Newell EPs *
  2. Listening to Sea Change now (for the first time) and enjoying the hell out of it. I might start to care.
  3. I am really hoping to see her when she comes through Chicago, but I probably won't be able to.
  4. Peter Laughner A founding member of Pere Ubu, The Dead Boys, and Rocket From the Tombs. He killed himself before any of those bands could achieve any type of notoriety. A troubled, troubled soul. But also an incredible songwriter and stunning guitar player.
  5. My band's first album came out 10 years ago. That band is now pretty much just me, but I am playing a show to celebrate that first album's release, anyway. Details: http://www.facebook.com/events/1408956699348542/ Hope that some of you, locally will join me. There will also be a second band on the bill: the debut performance of Are We Not Men?, an all-female cover band from Oak Park.
  6. Or any of Marriott's numerous "COME ON, CHILDREN!" exclamations throughout his career.
  7. The very first sound you hear on this song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tdSWaYRexeU
  8. "So I applied, basically. I tried out for the team."
  9. She's in a competition to perform on the "Experience Hendrix Tour 2014." But in order to get a spot on the tour, she needs people to vote for her. VOTE HERE While we will all miss her if she goes off on tour for a while, it would be a really nice gift to give an excellent teacher and a very nice person. Plus, just LISTEN! She's amazing!
  10. Forgot: Brinsley Schwarz Yeah, it's Nick Lowe's (and Ian Gomm's) band from the early to mid 70s. And they did record the original version of a couple of songs that would become famous later on. But most folks don't seem to know the band, itself. And that's too damn bad. They're amazing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1SZ2eT_T0AI
  11. Saw then at the Lounge Ax in Chicago back in the 90s. Excellent band.
  12. I've heard OF several of these, but don't know that I've actually heard any of them.
