http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hl4t01OqE5I Just bumped this thread to post this great live video of Raphael on Jools Holland's show. The album totally holds up. So great.

Yup. JY actually lives less than a mile from me. I see him around town quite a bit. Every now and then I'll see the tour bus parked in front of his place and know that the band is going back on tour. Actually, they released a new album just a couple of years ago (that was actually supposed to be pretty good).

Anyone gonna sticky this thing?

Happy (belated) birthday, Jeff. And, as everyone else has stated: thank you.

Just to prove that the Goo Goo Dolls didn't always suck

They did try too hard to be The Replacements. But that (one) album had some great pop songs in that vein. I don't like anything else that they've done, really, but that one album -- Hold Me Up -- was pretty great. Of course, if you don't like this song, then you disagree with me. Oh well. -
I am really looking forward to that Jeff-produced Mavis album that's coming out. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FAfMh_uLxvU

I did. It's really nothing much like any other Parliament, is it? More like Funkadelic stuff, or rather, somewhere in between the two. What do you think of it?

Quite possibly. But then, I always thought that this was pretty freaking amazing, too: Screamin' Jay Hawkins, Bongwater, and Bob Weir playing a Roky Erickson song. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W7mleSvxWqc (Yeah, I think that I've posted this clip before, but it is called for a re-post in this circumstance.)

Yup. That's where I grew up and where I live. It was on late on Sunday nights, though. Which could explain why you missed it... or never even heard of it.

And how's this for an odd pairing? Maybe the oddest pairing ever: The Residents and Conway Twitty http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PK5qKhPBnlA
