  1. King of the Wheels - Bobby Fuller Four
  2. My friend, who is a chef, was at the White House the last few days with a group of several other Chicago-based chefs. Is this what he was cooking for?!?!
  3. Poor sound quality but, a YouTube stream of a song from the EP: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f-A7VGcUaYI
  4. Shrimp Boat - Some Biscuit + Daylight Savings The La's - BBC In session Wire - 154 Songs: Ohia - The Magnolia Electric Co. Brian Eno - Another Green World
  5. I saw this at Half Price Books over the weekend and regretted not being able to pull the trigger. (My turntable isn't set up, and they were asking $25. On top of the fact that I just can't spend that on an EP right now.) Anyone have this? Share your thoughts and whatnot?
  6. Shrek Forever After Maybe a little oversentimental, with a heavy-handed moral. (You never know what you have until it's gone.) But still well-done with some very funny moments. I did enjoy it and, cheeseball that I am, I even got a little misty-eyed toward the end. Damnit. Well worth taking the kids to see. But if you don't have kids in the 4 to 10 year range, it's probably not worth your while or your money. And the 3D was very good, and (unlike the sentimentality) NOT done with a heavy hand; just added a lot to the look of an already great-looking movie.
  7. Robert Pollard - From a Compound Eye Tom Zé - Estuando a Bossa Os Mutantes - Haih... or Amortecedor... You Am I - Hi Fi Way
  8. To all of our VCers who are serving or have served in the Armed Forces: Hope that you had a peaceful and enjoyable Memorial Day and thank you for your service to our country.
  9. "Rooming House On Venice Beach" - Jonathan Richman "Surf Wax America" - Weezer (although that's probably one that you already had picked out, no?) "Showboat Angel" - The Sea and Cake "Rainbows" - Dennis Wilson "A Summer Tamarind" - Martin Newell
  10. When people use contractions when they're not supposed to, or don't when they are supposed to. ie: It was they're game to lose. or Its my job to make sure that your okay. UGH!!!
  11. Good. Because that would have been tragic, had I been the first one to mention it so far along into the thread.
  12. "You Made It Rain" - Martin Newell "Before the Hurricane" - Martin Newell http://youtube.com/watch?v=MWvz2jS5Qj4
  13. Folks all over The Internets are posting this exact sentiment right now... millions of them.
  14. Beastie Boys - "To All the Girls" (Paul's Boutique) Although, to be fair, while it isn't much of a song, per se... it does set the stoner kinda mood for the record. So: crappy song as an opener, but it works in it's own way. (I always kinda consider "Shake Your Rump" to be the real first song on the album, anyway. And that would qualify as one of the BEST.)

  16. Winston, Supposedly it was written at a time where the guys in the band were getting kinda pissed at Brian Epstien for some of his shadier business practices. Or at least for some of his posturing. Not sure if it's true, but that's the legend. (Supposedly the original title of the song was "Baby, You're a Rich Fag Jew". Again, not sure if that's true or not, but that's the legend.) Lyrics:
  17. Not sure if it's about getting screwed, but it is certainly done with tongue firmly in cheek. "I Love My Label" - Nick Lowe
  18. A friend of mine was talking about getting screwed by a website elsewhere, and that he wrote a song about it. That sparked me to thinking about other songs on the same topic; and these came to mind: "Baby You're a Rich Man" - The Beatles "The Compromise" - The Format And, I know that there are many others. Might make for a good mix. Can you help me out?
