Okay... having a second listen now, and... you Nick Lowe fans out there, really MUST have this. Nick was trying his damndest to actually be Jim Ford back in the Brinsley Schwarz days. At least vocally. Combine Parliament with Porter Wagoner, Chuck Berry, The Band and Van Morrison and you're pretty close. "It's where country meets funky." -Jim Ford

Many people have. But personally, I like the song.

The British scene, and NME in particular, are notorious for being all about "The Band Of The Moment". Not totally surprising.

Just arrived, and... DAMN! Just wish that it had his version of "Ju Ju Man" on there -- arguably the best rock and roll song, ever.

With all this love, I'll have to go back and listen to Kettle Whistle again. Not expecting much from it, but what the hell?
-
I know that a lot of you didn't like it, but a lot of you did. So, fair warning that I'll be taking this down in a couple of days. Thanks again for listening, and for your honest feedback.

The last time they raided the vaults, we got: Kettle Whistle Which makes me significantly less excited for this release. Although the reuniting with Eric Avery does make me prick up my ears a bit more.

It's not even close for me. I love the Byrds and can't stand the Doors.

I'm sure it does. Notice the little smiley guy poking you; that means that I'm teasing you back in good fun. I'm sure that it does go around like this, but I wasn't here in '02 and so I'm starting this new series. If it gets no response (or only annoyed responses), I'll stop it. But we're music geeks, lists are our lifeblood. I have other bands in mind for the series, too. At another board, someone started a "best albums of (year)" thread series that was a lot of fun.

Or, just not respond to the threads that they find repetitive.

That's the one that is nipping at the heels of my #5. And on any other given day could be my number 3 or so.
-
Let's continue this series, shall we? My top five:
