  1. Perhaps this belongs in the blaphmey thread, but: Eddie Vedder Yeah, the guy's got pipes, but that whole guttural thing is really damn annoying. And what makes it worse, is the hoards of imitators that he's inspired. Also, James Hetfield perhaps to an even greater extent.
  2. Much prefer to see the original Suede lineup. And, did Pulp actually break up or was Jarvis just taking a break to do a solo thing?
  3. Apologies if I already posted this. Either way, I would love to meet some of you if you can make it. I go on early, so even though it's a Thursday... And if you do come. PLEASE introduce yourself to me, even if it is a little strange stating your internet handle out-loud.
  4. Yes, they have. And not only that, but they've put out a couple of pretty excellent new albums within the last 10 -- incuding Rockford (2006), which ranks right up there with In Color, or at least with Dream Police. (It's a lot better than the latter, actually.)
  5. You did not. It would have been a bigger deal if they had, and I would have certainly heard of it and been there.
  6. Since I no longer drink to get drunk, cheap beer is no longer worth my time or money.
  7. My boys particularly love: "Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick" - Ian Dury But try to avoid "Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll"
  8. Although I love the latter... Bob Andrews > Steve Neive
  9. Not saying that they're not worth seeing, but I've seen them twice already without Bob (once at the final show at Grant Park) and, they were good. Really good. But Bob added that element of teetering on the edge (and sometimes pushed them over), that made them truly exciting.
  10. I've seen a couple of reunion shows (Big Star and Television). Both were amazing. Although I know that most don't go that way. As far as who I'd like to see reunite: Shrimp Boat Brinsley Schwarz H
  11. Merle Haggard. That's what I said! :oops And, I've heard the Dead's version now, but it doesn't hold a candle.
  12. I love Oedipus Schmoedipus. And this new one got one helluva review at AMG: 4.5 Stars Anyone else heard his stuff? He's pretty great. Also worked with Nick Cave. EDIT: Streaming audio at his web site here: http://www.barryadamson.com
  13. Just heard it for the first time recently. Damn. The only thing wrong with it is that it's too short. So, so great. Where else should I go with Merle (not including box sets that i have to plunk down a shitton of cash for)?
  14. Good one! Which reminds me of: "Cannonball" - The Breeders (Tanya Donneley was on the first Breeders record)
  15. While parts of it are good, the VU song "Sister Ray" is mostly unlistenable noise.
  16. One I always associate with that one: "The Way" - Fastball
  17. One-hit Wonders, only: "There She Goes" - The La's "Backwater" - Meat Puppets "A Deeper Shade Of Soul" - Urban Dance Squad "Detachable Penis" - King Missle "Groove Is In the Heart" - Deee-Lite "You Get What You Give" - (what was their name?) "Disneyland" - Dada And agreed with Smoking Popes! (I'm sure that I'll think of more later.)
