  1. There are streaming samples here: http://www.wearejames.com/hey-ma Pretty generous 1:30 or so clips, so you can really get a good idea. And, it sounds really good -- like they never left.

  6. This man wrote one of my all-time favorite songs: "Ju Ju Man" (of which I only know the Brinsley Schwarz version). But I saw this album at Amazon and want to know as much from all you fine folks as I can. Anyone familiar with him? Apparently he also wrote "36 Inches High" which Nick covered on Jesus Of Cool... another one of my favorite songs. Damn.
  7. Oh yeah.... there'll be some klezmer, too. Seriously. (I'm talking to some clarinet players that I know about adding a little Yiddish flavor to a particular song.)
  8. That's what I have just begun, Phil. Hope the rest of it is received as well as this track has been so far (here and elsewhere). Thanks!

  11. Have at it: http://iacmusic.com/songs.aspx?SongID=5968...;ArtistID=10003 (streaming audio only) Let me know if you like it or hate it or whatever. Whatever you think, it sounds like nothing else I've ever done and I had a lot of fun with it. It really does sound better LOUD. Added a poll so that you wouldn't be uncomfortable telling me what you really think - anonymously. But comments are, of course, always appreciated. And yeah, this will be on the next record, along with some acoustic folk, classic country, bluegrass, power pop, punk, and some other stuff. I do hope that you like thi

  13. The Ramones. Seriously. My guys loved The Ramones at that age... especially stuff like "Blitzkreig Bop" and "Pinhead". Think about it: simple, catchy melodies, and those great shoutalongs ("Hey! Ho! Let's Go!"; "Gabba Gabby Hey!!!"). But, you know skip the stuff like "Now I Wanna Sniff Some Glue", okay? Give it a shot. I was happy that I did.

  18. I used to live a mile or so from there, but I'm a suburban dad now, with a 9-5 (that actually begins at 6), so a Weds. at the Green Mill ain't too doable any more. One of these days, though. Thanks for the tip!
  19. I've only got a single disc from The Rosenberg Trio and, of course I've heard plenty of Django Reinhart and Stephane Grappelli. But, who else out there plays in this style that I should be hearing? I really like all that I've heard so far but, as is the case with a lot of distinct instrumental styles, I'm not so sure that I need a whole lot more. Any fans of the style? What else do I need outside of a couple of records? And what are the ESSENTIAL Gypsy Jazz records (Incl/ Django, et. al.)? I don't see it talked about much, and a search revealed nothing on the boards, so... Louie B, I'm
