  1. I know fans and critics alike were going apeshit over the Stones ticket prices in '69 (ranging from $3 to $8), which is why they wanted to put on a free show at the end of the tour. The road to hell being paved with good intentions, of course. So, I'm assuming that $8 was the most expensive rock concert ticket to date. Once they established that bar, the Dead (and other acts) must have felt secure in raising prices while also offering tickets at half the price.
  2. Holy Shit! I just got this e-mail from Trump:
  3. Wow, the jumps from 86 to 87 (+134%) and then from 92 to 93 (+50%) are amazing. I wonder what the Net totals were, and what the payouts to everyone in the family were. What kind of salary were the band members drawing towards the end? The crew? This comment appears below the article, which also blows my mind: The ticket revenue from the three Chicago Fare thee Well shows were higher than the total ticket revenue the band's shows generated during the 1960s and 1970s combined.
  4. I confess. Wha'ppen? Side question. Where would you Rank McGuinn amongst all time Rogers?
  5. For those with kiddos, Hilda, an animated series on Netflix, is pretty awesome.
  6. Anyone watching Maniac on Netflix? Fascinating series so far (we're on episode 6 of 10).
  7. Welllllll.... Trump isn't quite up there with Hitler, Stalin, or Pol Pot, but I'm sure if asked he would say something complimentary about each of them.
  8. Kinks are the Village Green Preservation Society's 50th is coming up (released the same day as the White Album: 11/22/68), and they have what appears to be a nice vinyl box set to be released on October 26: https://www.amazon.com/Kinks-Village-Green-Preservation-Society/dp/B07GJ397BS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1539266205&sr=8-1&keywords=kinks+village+green+preservation+society&dpID=51uohiZs1NL&preST=_SX300_QL70_&dpSrc=srch Looks like the box is vinyl only - the CD version is a thrifty $12, doesn't include any goodies - just 2 CDs with a remastered stereo mix and a remas
  9. Perhaps not, but she does belong in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RPEhIoKeTg0
  10. Just noticed that the 50th Anniversary multi-CD set for Electric Ladyland is going to be released on the same day as the White Album stuff. Original release dates: Electric Ladyland: Oct 16, 1968 White Album: Nov 22, 1968 - The Kinks are The Village Green Preservation Society came out the same day. (which has its own big vinyl box set coming out on Oct 26)
  11. Apparently, this is the first time they've been on the ballot too. I can't believe that's true, is it? It's the first time Def Leppard, Devo, John Prine, Roxy Music, Stevie Nicks and Todd Rundgren have made the list.
  12. Crazy that this is Devo's first time on the list. Guess that means they won't get in. Guess that means the HOF is Through Being Cool.
  13. This next election should confirm what kind of country we live in.
  14. I have one wall calendar that I kept (I ended up keeping just the last 3 months though). At the time, I was studying for a big exam, and used the wall calendar to keep track of my progress, but at the same time, I started dating my wife, and I wrote down each date - what we did, etc. We enjoy going back to see how everything started up. I wasn't lifting weights with Squi and Donkey Dong Dave though.
  15. The Amazon price just dropped to $145. If you pre-order, Amazon guarantees the lowest price hit during the pre-sale period. It's crazy that the 3 CD version (white album + complete Esher demos) is only $25, but you add the book and 3 CDs of additional session stuff, and the price jumps up $120.
  16. Man, that huge pause during Durbin's grilling - whether Kavanaugh would welcome an FBI investigation... And he just wouldn't answer the question. We're all getting boofed in a devil's triangle right now.
  17. A friend of mine thought he spotted Randall Tex Cobb in the trailer, but a quick cast search negated that, unless it's a cameo. I'm just trying to find some jammies for my kid with yodas and shit on em. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4wOsiojzo34 Just realized that one of the FBI agents in the scene above is the funeral parlor guy in Big Lebowski.
  18. Finished up the Jack Ryan series on Prime the other night. Meh. Big budget, and entertaining, and we had fun rolling our eyes at certain scenes. Good, not great.
  19. It definitely was: https://variety.com/2018/film/in-contention/coen-brothers-ballad-buster-scruggs-film-venice-oscar-1202883508/
  20. OK Then! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wahLIbwZTLQ
  21. I'm taking my time with this one. Will probably spend a couple weeks listening to each show. The first Vancouver show is great, albeit with a rough start. Birdsong is outstanding.
  22. My heart sank when I popped in the first show of the box set, and Bertha sounded like nobody's mikes were on. But the sound quality gets it right in short order, and the rest of the show was fantastic.
