Putin says that Trump is being impeached for made-up reasons. Huh, would you look at that. Another talking point the GOP shares with Putin. Seriously, what in the ever loving fuck? And I've been yelled at - called a traitor and un-American for being "liberal." Which reminds me of an old joke. Two pakistani friends immigrate to America. After they process through the immigration line, they separate, but promise to meet up after a year, with a challenge to see who can be more assimilated into the US culture. A year passes, and they meet up as promised. First guy says "There's no way you

What's there to discuss? The two sides sound as if they are talking about two separate things. The Senate will acquit. Our only hope is the election. This era has been soul crushing.

I think the proof is in the pudding on that one.

Today I learned that Frusciante was going to audition for Zappa's '88 tour band, but opted out because of Zappa's strict no drugs policy.

Finished reading Sam Cutler's book yesterday. I enjoyed his appearance in the Amazon Dead doc, so I was hoping for "more." Not bad, not great. Apparently his career after getting fired by the Dead (in 74?) wasn't terribly interesting, because that's where the book ends.

I like. Thanks. Definitely better than "Music from 'The Elder'" -

Same for me - didn't care for it at all at first, but when I just randomized the whole collection, it fit in nicely, and then my appreciation grew. -

I guess that the artists that were introduced in the last decade - that I enjoy and listen to the most would be: Tame ImpalaFirst Aid KitSturgill Simpson I'll have to check them out. -
FYI - Gimme Shelter is available for streaming on the Criterion Collection App. It's $11/month, and it's excellent if you like art house and foreign flicks.

My only complaint is that, in the same way that the Scorsese doc (Crossfire Hurricane) does - it just kind of ends after Nellcote and Exile. I think the book is around 300 pages, and the Nellcote chapter ended around page 260. Barely anything about Ron Wood. I mean, I get it - not much interesting happens after Some Girls and Tattoo You, but throw me a bone and give me a paragraph on shooting the video for Undercover of the Night, or give me something about how the Stones approached the MTV era, or the 80s in general.

Yeah, it just seems as if it was happening in the middle of the night.

That helicopter was so overloaded. You can see people sitting on others' laps before it takes off. It had a capacity for 10 but they crammed 17 into it, as if they were fleeing a zombie apocalypse...

Just started reading that one over the weekend. Poor guy was stranded in SF immediately after Altamont, and the Stones completely stiffed him! Left him to deal with all the shit, and didn't reimburse nor pay him a cent. That's some cold shit. The crazy "fact" I read in the Cohen book was that the Stones were back in their hotel by 9pm that night. Cutler's the best thing about that Amazon Prime Grateful dead doc series. I'm hoping his book comes off the same way.

I just finished reading Rich Cohen's The Sun and The Moon and The Rolling Stones. Came out in 2016. Very entertaining read - it contained one of the best Altamont passages I've read. There's gotta be more footage from the Maysles brothers - if so, I wish they'd release it.

After 6 years on the Dave's subscription, I'm bowing out this year. Too many diminishing returns. I used to be so excited to listen to the newest Pick, but I haven't even gotten around to the most recent one yet.

It seems like the trains are an afterthought for Rod, and he's more into the buildings and settings.

Season 1 was good. Season 2 was genius - The Office Party episode particularly, and then the episode of the mom's funeral were both very excellent viewing. I'm enjoying it too. I love seeing visual storytelling with minimal dialogue. Besides Rogue One, this is the closest thing I've seen in the Star Wars broadcast universe that compares to the feeling of the original and Empire Strikes Back.

Wow - that is spectacular. Even the golden sunset lighting is amazing.
