Wilco tells fans not to waste $$$ on their Blu Ray
barbkm replied to watchtower41's topic in Just A Fan
I'd get it, if it had some extra features -- like Director/Band commentary on the Director/Band commentary: Jeff: Yeah, I remember the day we recorded this commentary, I had a roast beef sandwich for lunch. Today, I had turkey. John: Didn't you say that you wish you had the sandwich on rye instead of wheat bread? Jeff: Yup. -
To follow that thought, I just got a bootleg from the Being There era -- and there's no doubt that Jay's a great guitarist, but his solos sound like he's showing off. Now -- with Nels and Pat -- to me it sounds like each solo is part of a whole. What the two and sometimes three of them do complements the other. Jay's use of the wah-wah is great, but nothing gives me the chills like Impossible Germany, Handshake Drugs, and Spiders. Not to beat a dead horse either

I always have trouble getting stuff off this site. What program am I lacking?

Thank you.

Thank You. I am one pair of night vision goggles away from being a stalker, and the only reason I'd check out either blog is to get the latest inside dirt on Dad or the brother in law.
-
I just checked out Spencer's blog, and wow, I was impressed. But, I'm not going to go back for two reasons: 1 -- I feel like a stalker. I just think I should keep Jeff's family life private (although I'm sure that he got Dad's permission to start it.) And 2 -- I'm jealous cos that 13 year old kid's a better writer than me.

Wilco. Had Jay Bennett not left the band
barbkm replied to Shakespeare In The Alley's topic in Just A Fan
So glad I started listening after Jay left, so I don't have such strong feelings. I love YHF, but I love SBS just as much. Since I'm not a musician and can't really critique to music based on knowledge and skill, just my gut and heart, I've no opiniopn of pre-and post jay. But -- I do agree that he's kind of a pain in the ass, or at least that how the movie made him out to be. At work, I created a description -- the Jay Bennet of the group. This person's percieved value to the group in greater than the actual value. That's horrible and mean, sorry Jay and all the Jay lovers, but, this is my -
I missed the all star line up - Damn my fear of driving in the snow!

This is friggen hysterical. I love that some many folks here are so funny. Anyway, my thoughts: John -- Those sweater vests he wears do pigeon-hole him into some kind of soft, empathatic type role. Like youth conselor. Or, the shrink for the NYPD's Special Victims Unit (Think the tall thin guy who is nice on SVU, but a cracy Arayan in Oz) who matches wits with all the insane ax murderers and whose soft, trusitng style gets them to admit that they kill people cos thier mothers never loved them. Drinks tea. Glenn-- That hip guy in the mega corporation's mailroom who listens to his Ipod and

Did the Neil Youngs fans clap? Keep the beat?

What time has Wilco been hitting the stage opening for Neil?
barbkm replied to dontforget's topic in After The Show
[The Madison Square garded show only starts at 8 -- so Wilco, I assume, around 9, Neil 10 -- and I have to work the next day, Yuck. -
I saw this show in NYC -- and I agree it was great. I've seen Robyn a bunch of times -- solo and with the Venus 3 -- and this was one of the best. I have not listened to Trains in such a long time -- but it brought back why I love it so much. It mysterious, funny, dark, and gorgeous. In my all time top ten. They were filming too, for the Sundance Channel. He kept making mistakes and starting over so the tape would be perfect. I really liked the addition of the Middle Easten style singer. Diffferent, but added a great element to th songs.

There was filming going on at the Pines Theater Show in MA in June 07 -- I saw the cameras. Apparently for VH 1, but that footage has yet to see the light of day.

I always enjoyed signing on to Facebook and seeing, under my friend section, that I was friends with Jeff Tweedy. Even thougn I knew it was really just an assistant confirming all the friend requests that came it, I would dream that Jeff was reviewing my page, saying, "Barb's favorite movie is Rushmore. Oh, I throughly enjoyed looking at Barb's Halloween pictures." I know that was never the case, but a girl can dream. Then I see he was no longer under my "Friends Section." At first I thought that it was me -- it did not want to be friends with me any more. Then I searched and found he was g

Dang, I wish I lved in Chicago.

I'm in NJ, and most Wilco fan I've met have been waiting online at Wilco concerts. Whenever I get that dull-eyed, vacat stare when I mention Wilco, I say, "They've been on Sat. Night Live, Leno, Letterman, Conan AND Colbert." I then go into, "Rememberr that Volkswagon commercial, when the guy steals the guy, puts the top down, and then drives around to a gorgeous song sung by an equally gorgeous voice?" And the dull-eyed, vacant stare continues. It's a sad, sad world that does not know Wilco. I did meet on guy who was a big fan, but he ended up being a crack addict. I hope he's not reading

If Jeff called me I would have been so excited I may have peed a little bit.
-
When I say this I mean no disrespect for Mrs. Tweedy -- but great gogglie-mogglie, I want to sit in Jeff's lap and just snuggle. Was funny and a great song.
-
Not lovong pat's beard. It kind of negates his whole mod look.
-
I was wondering how that hat Jeff's been wearing since at least 2002 keeps it's shape. You know the one, that wool hat he's wearing in the Reservations part of IATTBYH -- it's in numerous pictures, and I saw him in it three times at shows and when I was stadning outside the tour bus wating for a glimpse.. Does he keep geting new ones that look exactly the same? Or just a great quality? Curious.

I think Heavy metal Drummer tells a great story of recalling the easier times of youth, plus the power of music to help your fre yourself. Althought "And stoned" is not a good example for kids.

I can't decide if this eBay listing is creepy or kind of cool
barbkm replied to loraaw's topic in Just A Fan
Personal details??? is that like "Eggs for Breakfast", "Ham sandwich for lunch" "Man-- Nels' breath reaks. Would a tic-tac kill him???" "I wonder if there's any more Diet Coke in the fridge?" -
Thank you -- and I could totaly start a script. I've been mulling this in my head for a year.
