Don't forget to add the music being performed after Drums/ Space, but I see your point. Also- post d/s seemed to be getting shorter in the mid 80's/ 90's. Anyone got the times (sets, d/s, and encores) from the weekend?

Tweedy interview and performance on CBS Saturday Morning
dagwave replied to BobDylan'sBeard's topic in Just A Fan
That's correct, Diane! My daughter and I signed up for a single late volunteer shift : 1-6. We were helping people make decisions regarding their trash right by the Spinach bell. Snuck away to watch a little Cibo and saw CBS guy on the bridge. Later, he approached our station and inquired where the Press Tent was.....no clue, I pointed him back to the base/ museum. Wish I would have offered to escort him in search of destination. No idea his name, but he's an ace journalist, a huge music fan AND i might have Penny Laned my way into the Tweedy interview. Opportunity lost, indeed. -
link to sincere NYT review on the weekend: http://www.nytimes.com/2015/07/07/arts/music/no-song-left-unsung-grateful-dead-plays-its-last.html Although "never" exactly perfect, I felt the performance matched the moment. I stuck with the couch tour listening only experience- the excellent, if not respectful, performance had plenty of hot moments/ jams, some meandering (to be expected, but "trainwrecks", people??? please) and a palpable energy from the crowd/ coverage. That being said, a friend from work offered SC boards today. My response to his surprise, "No, I'm good."

XM hosts are saying nice things about Solid Sound at Grateful Dead pre-show, including on site interviews with Charles Lloyd and Bill Frisell (one of the announcers attended).

Rain was fair to middling, but absolutely tolerable and better than this forecaster expected. Jeff commented late in the set "Compared to the second time we were here, this is child's play" (not a direct quote). Although the crowd was strong, I think the forecast washed out (see what I did there) some early attendees. Good for us. Oh, and they definitely "brought the rock", and then some. Nels was scorched earth on Ashes and Germany. Jeff's voice was fantastic, the mood appeared joyful on the stage, and when Glenn stands on his drumstool to start the night off (only allowed at SS!), you kno

Settled in Pittsfield after a most enjoyable, traffic free, blue sky- kissed 5 1/2 hour drive with my daughter. We have a lovely old Victorian rental in the heart of town. Took turns on the music..... I can't get "Uptown Funk" or "Bad Blood' out of my head (i'm talking to you, parents of teenage girls). I'm thinking she's not having the same issue with St. Vincent, Courtney Barnett, or a wonderful 10.30.90 Wembley Dead show.. Or maybe not. For now, a small price to pay. Safe travels, everybody!

Admittedly a bit shy at the last SS, since then it's been my great fortune to have connected with a handful of VCer's at subsequent gatherings (hi DianeVinceSarahMattArleneSandy and more!). Don't be shy folks, as our friend Tom Waits says, "Step Right Up". By all accounts, you guys are are swell! Looking forward to a fantastic weekend- we're lighting out Monday morning to spend some time in the fabulous Berkshires-treetop adventure parks, zip-lining, mountain rollercoasters, great food, swimming holes and sightseeing prior to SSIV. Safe travels to all- I believe we are in store for a mag

I want to marry Jeff, too. Alas, my 12 year old daughter does not find him to be a suitable stepmother. Maybe her second SS will change her mind, maybe not. I understand her position: it takes Spencer off the table.
