  6. Sufjan's stuff has been doing the heavy lifting around here for the last couple of years, i even love the "weird' stuff depending on the time of night and what may be in the eggnog.... James Brown Funky Christmas rules the roost as well. I even have a soft spot for the Partridge Family Christmas, Kenny and Dolly, Hanson, and Boxcar Willie, too. "Ringing the Bells for Jim" by Johnny Cash gets me every time. And I dig the Weezer and Pretenders holiday stuff mightily. And the classics: Motown, Chess, Stevie, Spector, Vince Guaraldi, Beach Boys and of course, ELVIS. Love me some Xmas tun

  14. wow - mixed feelings on the news. I was down on Furthur initially (based on some recordings), but believe they progressed and I finally heard some sweet shows and got to see them live a couple of times. That being said, possibly there was nowhere futhe new to go with the music. Definitely a good solid run - the pessimist in me considers the fact that the machine might be lining up schedules for a 50 year anniversary stadium/ arena money grab. I really hope I'm wrong. I'm pretty sure I'm not a pessimist.

  17. I had the great fortune to attend Saturday's show. The band was a bit slow coming out of the gates, but starting heating up 1/2 way through the set and never stopped. Gregg did indeed look frail, as I watched him entering venue (and Warren) on side street. He left the stage for most of Elizabeth Reed in the second set. The show was great overall- incredible Jessica with a snippet of Will the Circle be Unbroken (theme for the beacon run). Also a fantastic Into the Mystic dedicated to Bill Graham on the anniversary of his death. Lastly, Politician thrown into Elizabeth Reed as a Jack Bruce tr
  18. man, that's terrible news. ABB sandwiched their first and only "Politician" during Elizabeth Reed last night at the Beacon - now i understand why. "Sunshine of your Love" is one of the first bass riffs I learned. And super vocals. Darn it. RIP
