What was your favorite concert you have attended?
Boss_Tweedy replied to remphish1's topic in Someone Else's Song
R.E.M. with Wilco opening at Red Rocks in 2003. My two favorite bands at an incredible venue underneath a full moon. R.E.M. played my favorite song, "I Believe." Runner-up would be R.E.M.'s set at Voodoo Fest in 2008 (which would prove to be their final performance in the U.S. ever). I stood right in front of the stage for about two hours before their set just to secure my spot. The presidential election was nearing, and the band was in fine form and full of energy that night. -

That's the first music of Jay's in quite a while that didn't make me want to kill myself.

Was anyone here on the old R.E.M. board Murmurs? I was Reverend Bill Funderburk there.

Favorite concerts you saw this year?

Having just returned from seeing Tony Bennett and his band tonight, I want to add it to my list of favorite concerts for the year. I don't see how anyone who's 90 years old can do what he does. He's incredible. -
Saw him tonight at the Saenger Theatre in New Orleans. He performed with a three-piece band consisting of a piano player, a drummer, and a bassist. The band was top-notch. I tried to memorize their names and googled more info as soon as I got home. Harold Jones is 76 and was Count Basie's drummer. Marshall Wood played the upright bass. Bennett's longtime piano player, Ralph Sharon, unfortunately passed away last year. The new piano player is Billy Stritch. They played three songs before Tony walked onto the stage, and his entrance was very cool. An audio clip of Frank Sinatra introducing Ton

Not music but John Cleese & Eric Idle. Bucket list stuff for me.

To me everything they put their name on was solid till Bill Berry retired. Completely agree that they're one of the greatest American bands.

Favorite concerts you saw this year?

My concert schedule's been pretty lean this year: Wilco - Tabernacle - Atlanta, GA - both nights ( neither would land on my list of favorite Wilco shows, however) The Cure - UNO Lakefront Arena - New Orleans, LA - both nights - Bob Smith can still sing Loretta Lynn - IP Casino - Biloxi, MS - the show was shortened considerably because Loretta was under the weather, but it was a bucket list show for me and I took my mom, who's had her hands full the last two years with my dad being ill Alejandro Escovedo - Chickie Wah Wah - New Orleans, LA - beautiful show made better because I met him -
Hoping for some Deep South shows that aren't festivals. I just don't have the finances for a Winterlude trip.

Here's a link to a very informative BBC Radio special hosted by Billy Bragg on the 25th anniversary of "Out of Time." There are two separate episodes, each a little over an hour in length. I've listened to all of it and recommend to fans of the band. There are recent interviews with Berry, Buck, Mills, and Stipe as well as producer Scott Litt. http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b08541fx

I'm not a subscriber and it works fine for me. Let me try to paste the text of the article. If this isn't OK, I apologize in advance and am OK if a moderator removes this post. LOS ANGELES - Jeff Tweedy stops strumming his guitar, unfolds himself from a couch backstage at the Ace Theater and reaches forward for a handshake, connecting a musical circuit of creator and listener that has spanned more than two decades. "I'm going to sing all my answers to your questions if that's OK." His speaking voice is like his singing voice, raspy and melodically conversational. Had he done so, it would
