  1. Listening to it for the first time now...& liking it!
  2. I'm trying to contain my enthusiasm out of fear it won't live up to any hype. I'm sure I won't hate it, but I don't often return to the well to listen to anything after "A Ghost Is Born." That way any surprise will be of the pleasant variety. Still I pre-ordered it the day it became available and will anxiously await its release.
  3. The hits just keep on coming for the music world this year.
  4. I probably will if only because R.E.M. is my favorite band of all time (sorry, Wilco). It does have some great songs: "Near Wild Heaven," "Belong," "Half a World Away," "Texarkana," "Country Feedback," and "Me in Honey" are all among my favorites (my list is long). I've hated "Shiny Happy People" since the first time I heard it, and "Radio Song" is pretty low on my list of R.E.M. songs. Everyone knows "Losing My Religion." It's a staple for sure, but having grown up when that song was popular, it got old quickly and never fully recovered. I miss R.E.M. I saw that Peter Buck and Bill Berry pl
  5. Happy birthday, Jeff! Can't wait for my next Wilco show...whenever and wherever that may be!

  7. Newbury Comics is now offering for pre-order the Schmilco CD with an autographed postcard. Link
  8. "The Glory of Their Times: The Story of the Early Days of Baseball Told by the Men Who Played It," edited by Lawrence Ritter.
  9. So incredibly jealous of St. Louis. Wish they'd do an in-store at the Euclid in NOLA.
  10. Started "Stranger Things" today. Two episodes in and I'm hooked.
  11. "Gleason." I can't recommend this film enough. It's a powerful depiction (the good, the bad & the ugly) of the decline of a former professional athlete at the hands of ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) and how it affects him and those closest to him.
  12. "Gone Girl." Wow - what an excellent movie!
  13. Bill Clinton can still bring it. He's infinitely more relatable than Hillary.
  14. I enjoyed Bernie's speech last night. Granted, I'm somewhat biased, as I voted for him in the primary and wish he'd received the nomination. For me if Bernie and Hillary gave that same speech from last night, I'd take Bernie's every time. Because when Bernie says it I believe him.
  15. I didn't watch a moment of it. Seeing what's become of the Republican Party makes me wonder how I ever identified with it years ago. It's an absolute clown show. I honestly don't understand how or why anyone would vote for Donald Trump.
  16. For me Wilco now receives the same treatment which I accorded to R.E.M.: I'll pre-order every record they release till they call it a day without having to hear a single note in advance. They've earned it in my book. However, I miss Jay Bennett terribly and keep hoping for another release more similar in sound to "Being There." It may be due to a matter of personal taste, but save for a song or two on each album I don't return much to anything after AGIB. As for the names they choose for their albums, I honestly don't care.
  17. Eh. I was hoping for more of the "country" vibe Jeff referenced and/or the sound of "If I Ever Was a Child."
  18. I'm not a vinyl person, but for those who are Bull Moose is offering an opaque pink version. http://www.bullmoose.com/p/23275074/wilco-schmilco-pink-vinyl-indie-exclusive-includes-download-card
  19. Ordered! One of these albums I'm gonna win one of the prizes for pre-orders. It has to happen!
  20. Awesome. You may have just sold me.
  21. How was the show? They're playing in NOLA pretty soon, and I've been thinking about going.
