  1. That's twice this year in which Wilco shows I've attended were cut short by the weather. Still a little Wilco is better than no Wilco. And the new songs sounded great live. Here's the set list posted by the band on its Facebook page: Setlist: Wilco September 26, 2015 Franklin, TN | Pilgrimage Music Festival 01 - More... 02 - Random Name Generator 03 - The Joke Explained 04 - I Am Trying to Break Your Heart 05 - Art of Almost 06 - Pickled Ginger 07 - Hummingbird 08 - Handshake Drugs 09 - Cold Slope 10 - King of You 11 - Jesus, Etc. 12 - Box Full of Letters 13 - Heavy Metal Drummer 14 - I'm
  2. I believe John's family attended the Tipitina's shows (or at least one of them), as I recall a nod to them (they were seated on the balcony) during one of the shows. I, too, noticed the Big Bill Broonzy shirt Jeff was wearing. I don't know whether Broonzy influenced Pops Staples (though it wouldn't be surprising given that they were both based in Chcago). I do know Broonzy was a popular musician who played often in and around Chicago, including the Old Town School of Folk Music. Last night was absolutely amazing. The Orpheum is a beautiful venue, and the band (as always) sounded great. So
  3. I'll be there with a couple of friends. Not sure what our plans will be for the rest of the day, but I know we'll be seeing Wilco. Have you found someone else to join? if not you're more than welcome to join us. Just let me know & I'll message you.
  4. It would be great to meet some other folks who post here.
  5. Pilgrimage Music Festival - Saturday & Sunday Wilco - Sep. 28 Pokey Lafarge & The Deslondes - Dec. 12 Lucero - Dec. 16
  6. "Why Would I Now?" from florasongs, the forthcoming EP by the Decemberists.
  7. For what it's worth I think you made the right call.
  8. Aside from my favorite song in their catalog ("I Believe"), it's nigh impossible for me to whittle down my favorites to five. I'll give it a shot though. R.E.M.: 1. "I Believe" 2. "Wendell Gee" 3. "Sitting Still" 4. "Nightswimming" 5. "Untitled" (last song on Green) The list really fluctuates from time to time and usually includes "Carnival of Sorts (Box Cars)," "Gardening at Night," "Perfect Circle," "We Walk," "Don't Go Back to (Rockville),"Kohoutek," "Good Advices," "Begin the Begin," "Fall On Me," "The Flowers of Guatemala," "Cuyahoga," "King of Birds," "Orange Crush," "Turn You Inside
  9. I'm an attorney though I've been working part-time since last fall to help with the care of my dad, who was diagnosed with stage four Hodgkin's lymphoma last year. Now that his health is stable (thank you, M.D. Anderson Cancer Center), I'm looking to resume my career and kinda start over (preferably in Chicago - where I was planning to move before his diagnosis). Given that I know about three people in Chicago and am from the Deep South, if anyone has any contacts up that way I'd REALLY appreciate a hookup.
  10. "Around The Sun" by R.E.M. The absolute worst. I'm not counting the "Live" album - just judging the studio output. I'm so glad they turned it around somewhat with "Accelerate" and "Collapse Into Now" before calling it a day.
  11. I really like the new album. Very chill sound that puts me in a relaxed mood. They were on CBS This Morning yesterday: http://www.stereogum.com/1827564/watch-yo-la-tengo-cover-the-cure-on-cbs-this-morning/video/
  12. "The End of the Tour." Jason Segel will receive a few award nominations for his portrayal of David Foster Wallace. Very good film.
  13. Jealous re: Bully. I really like their album and want to see them live.
  14. Nothing in August for me either, but late September should be good: 9/26 - Pilgrimage Music Festival - Wilco, Weezer, Neko Case, Iron & Wine, Kristone "Kingfish" Ingram (young blues prodigy from Mississippi) 9/27 - Pilgrimage Music Festival - Willie Nelson, The Decemberists, Band of Horses, St. Paul & the Broken Bones, Charles Bradley 9/28 - Wilco (NOLA)
  15. Got my CD in the mail today. Kinda "meh" packaging but glad to finally have my physical copy and looking forward to seeing (and hopefully meeting) the band at the Pilgrimage Music Festival and in NOLA.
  16. "The $100 Startup." Because there's no room in my profession for an honest lawyer, and I'm tired of spending most of my time dealing with dirtbags.
