I thought it was a solid show. His voice was surprisingly good given his age, and his band was really tight. The video shown when he played "Meat Is Murder" was unsettling, and I wish he'd played more than one song during the encore. One interesting thing is that he may be the first musician on his scale who offered none of his music for sale at the show. At least I didn't see any. Here are links to a couple of articles on the show from the local paper: http://www.nola.com/music/index.ssf/2015/06/morrisseys_us_tour_opener_at_t.html http://www.nola.com/music/index.ssf/2015/06/morrisseys_cha

Morrissey at the Saenger in NOLA.

Still hoping for a proper NOLA show, but it looks like I'll have to settle for the Pilgrimage Music Festival in Franklin, TN.

Favorite final albums by a band/solo artist?
Boss_Tweedy replied to remphish1's topic in Someone Else's Song
Uncle Tupelo's "Anodyne" is top notch in my book. Sentimentally (because R.E.M. is my favorite all-time band), and because it's an underrated album which too few people heard, I I'll also agree about "Collapse Into Now." I know they weren't the same after Bill Berry retired, but I miss that band. -

This album gets better with each listen, and if I had to vote today it would be my album of the year.

Such an irreplaceable treasure. I was fortunate enough to be front and center (about three or feet away from him) for his late-night show at Club Ebony in Indianola during his 2001 homecoming. An experience I'll never forget. He was great ambassador for my home state and for the blues.

Not sure I can officially narrow it down to five, but off the top of my head: 1. "Lifes Rich Pageant" - R.E.M. 2. "Anodyne" - Uncle Tupelo 3. "Being There" - Wilco (I kinda felt like at least one Wilco album was a mandatory inclusion) 4. "Kind of Blue" - Miles Davis 5. "Picaresque" - The Decemberists

Sufjan Stevens at the Saenger Theatre in New Orleans. I'm pretty excited given the reviews of some of his recent shows.

I think I'm gonna have to make that festival. My two favorite bands (Wilco & The a Decemberists) along with Willie Nelson, Charles Bradley, Iron & Wine, Weezer, Dr. John, et al. -
The same exact thing happened to me for the New Orleans show this Saturday. I got fifth row (left of stage, but I think my seats are close to the aisle in the center). Very much looking forward to this show.

I'm a day behind because I went to a late-night show after Jazz Fest wrapped up for the day. I saw Bonsoir Catin/ DJ D. Lefty Parker, The Deslondes and Feufollet at Siberia, an eclectic little club in New Orleans. Keep your eye on The Deslondes, whose first album is scheduled for release next month.

Jerry Lee Lewis - today at Jazz Fest. He only played about 35 minutes but can still sing and play the piano very well. Despite his colorful past, the man is pretty much a music genius.

If I like this one (and I've been told by more than one person that I will), I'll have to pick up the Lusitania book next.
-
Just picked up The Devil in the White City: Murder, Magic and Madness at the Fair That Changed America by Erik Larson.
-
The Connells: 1. Over There 2. Fun & Games 3. Motel 4. Slackjawed 5. New Boy

Just finished season one of "Marvel's Daredevil" on Netflix. Solid.

I sure wish they'd plan a proper show in NOLA after their set was cut short last weekend. It's been a long time since those back-to-back nights at Tipitina's in 2008.

The music history nerd/Elvis fan in me wanted a copy of the reissue of Elvis's first two recordings. Alas, I was unable to participate in this year's RSD due to a prior engagement. However, afterward I scored one of these, which were issued by The End of All Music in Oxford, MS:
