Ah, well, doesn't change it for me. I just don't like those vocals.

So I gave Circuital my full attention last weekend while sitting on a dock by a lake, drinking a few beers and looking at the night sky. I must say that it worked for me then. And I gave it the headphone treatment a few days ago when I was laid up sick on the couch. Dug it again. I still don't like the use of the children's choir on "Black Metal," though. Felt like it could've gone without...

Jeff Tweedy talks about New Album to Spin
choo-choo-charlie replied to pathfire's topic in Just A Fan
It'll be released first at Solid Sound, and then to the rest of the world on the date mentioned above. http://wilcoworld.net/news/index.php It also looks like you can already pre-order it on Amazon. -
Yes, I know. My comment was in response to someone else's comment about Uncle Tupelo being more of a politically-charged band...

Youth & Young Manhood will always be my favorite KOL record.

It was a cover of a traditional, but "Coalminers" is another good example.

Just gave the first listen, and I'm pretty indifferent. Granted -- I listened at moderate volume on crummy computer speakers, so I'm planning to give it a shot through headphones and a CD in the car. Maybe my opinions will change with repeated listens...it's happened before.

New High Res Audio from Warner

I didn't know that Steve Guttenberg was a journalist now. The earnings from Three Men and a Baby, Police Academy and Short Circuit must be running dry... -
I agree. In my circle, I loved being one of just a few people who knew who they were. They were mine. Not so much anymore.

We REALLY need that new record...
choo-choo-charlie replied to Sweet Papa Crimbo's topic in Just A Fan
Easily. I spend the most time with Wilco's new releases, more so than any other band. And then I suddenly find myself knowing the lyrics, hooks, intricacies, etc. by heart after a certain amount of time. -
Where does one find these b-sides?????

Love it. That psychiatry degree is really paying off. That's my understanding of it too. And that album is usually one of the top contenders for me. Ranking MMJ albums, to me, is almost like ranking Wilco albums...the favorites are always changing. Sounds like another band... Z. Perfect.

Same here. That's what I do. Usually it's a few spins of the vinyl with no conversation, then headphones, all while having a copy in the car too. Total immersion. -
Having read this a few more times, I can't decide if this excites me or just confuses me further. Now I really have to hear the music inspired by such a meandering, intriguing mind.

Artists are stars. Albums are planets. Tracks are moons. Available only on iPad. http://planetary.bloom.io/

Yeah, but they don't want to "just fall back on a bunch of easy rockers..." Maybe the 14-minute epic on the new [double?] record will fit the bill.

The best stuff was from the early shows. The Being There tour.
