I'm really enjoying this. Really funny stuff.

I have the UT singles box set. They're fun to spin once in a while. Until I can get a jukebox in my living room that I can load up with my own 45s, they'll probably spend more time on the shelf in the record cabinet.

So it turns out that because of some personal circumstances,my wife and I can no longer attend Solid Sound this year. While we are very disappointed, we do plan to make it in the future. This year is just not turning out to be the one. I do, however, have my tickets, and am hoping to sell them to someone. I have (2) of the 3-Day Early Worm passes. Could my fellow VCers perhaps recommend a good place to try and sell them?

Whats your take on Impossible Germany?

I think this thread represents exactly what Jeff Tweedy would want his fans to do with his songs. -

Whats your take on Impossible Germany?

I recently returned to spinning the album version of IG, which I still think is great. In its present form, it's gotten quite long in live settings. I think they added a few more minutes of soloing -- earlier live versions still featured a solo but it didn't carry on for as long as it does now. -

What are your perfect 10 out of 10 albums!

I see your Mississippi John Hurt (an excellent choice) and raise you R.L. Burnside, "First Recordings." -
I do love A.M. and its rustic, earthy sound. The banjo/dobro were far more prominent on that than Being There, where they seemed to be more "flourishes," in places than full-on showcases for those instruments -- yet still tastefully done. I don't know if we'll ever get another record sounding like those, or as it's been stated -- if Tweedy is really interested in tapping into that sound again -- but I'll say that I do prefer the dobro/slide guitar sound more than the lap steel that Nels uses, as pretty as it is. Just my $.02.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't "Unlikely Japan" recorded around the time of AGIB? Sounds like a circa 2002-03 Jeff Teeedy vocal to my ears. I really dig that track.

Thank you everyone. Appreciate the kind words and well-wishes!

My new year is starting off with the most wonderful gift of all -- a beautiful baby daughter, born Friday, Dec. 28. Everyone, please meet my little ladybug, Evelyn Elizabeth. I'm completely smitten.

Sweet! My wife gave me a green/blue Tweedy strap two years ago. Love these things.

Did I go to the only 4 set Wilco show ever?
choo-choo-charlie replied to IRememberDBoon's topic in Just A Fan
The "Evening With" concert just never seemed to end. Also four sets! There is an excellent recording of the Kansas City show. I went nuts that night. Thought there was a great balance of songs, plus you simply can't go wrong with 4 songs from A.M. and 3 from Being There, opening with "Via Chicago" and an epic "Spiders/Kidsmoke." Elton John was playing the then-brand-new Sprint Center in KC that same night, and Tweedy was talkin' some friendly smack on that show since it drew probably 15,000 people compared to the few thousand that might have fit at The Crossroads. It was the closing show for T -

Thanks! 2 days to go... I showed that to my brother, and his immediate response was, '"Cars Can't Escape," right?' Never thought of it that way...

I saw one of the "Evening With" shows 3/30/2010 and it was incredible. But my top 2 Wilco/Tweedy shows to date are 2/18/2006 (my first) and 10/13/2007. -
The iCloud has revived a lot of music I purchased on iTunes years ago, stuff I thought I'd lost after a computer got wiped out without a backup. This and The Sadies album (above) are among the rediscovered...

Fantastic playing on this one too. I wish he'd release a solo live album of tunes played in this style.

He's unbelievably good.
