Along the same lines, here's one of my favorite exchanges from the night: Robert Milazzo: Do you understand why people would want to meet you? Jeff Tweedy: Yeah, because I think people develop emotional connections to songs and to art. It's very understandable because the emotion is coming from the listener, from the viewer, from the watcher. You can't put emotion in music, I'm sorry to tell everybody that. You put yourself into a piece of art and hope that somebody else identifies something that they hadn't been able to identify but it's coming from them.

Songs played, in order: Less Than You Think IATTBYH The Losing End One By One You Are Not Alone ...and about 30 seconds of finger pickin' - he was asked what he would play if no one else was in theatre, and he said, "If it was just me, I'd probably be trying to learn some finger picking thing that I don't know how to play." I can never remember the rules around here, so I'll just note that there's a YouTube video of .

That's exactly what it felt like. It was surreal. I was very self-conscious about blocking the view for so many other people, but what I could I do? I would have gladly stepped off the platform if everyone else would have. -

Another note about the banter: After Lilac Rain finished singing Hummingbird with Jeff, he commented on how little she was the first time. "You were just a little zygote!" Then he cupped his hand, held it up to the mic, and started singing the chorus to Hummingbird in a 'little' voice. "Just a little zygote! An amoeba! Wait, an amoeba? That doesn't make sense." -

The highlight for me was "Either Way." I requested it for a friend who survived/beat cancer this year. She's a Wilco fan, and told me that she listened to that song to help her get through the treatments. -

Someone threw a beer can onstage during IATTBYH. It flew in front of Jeff and landed around John's feet. Jeff looked in the direction of the thrower and shook his head, seeming to say, "No, no, no. What are you thinking?" After the song ended, Jeff walked over to security and pointed out the thrower. It's pretty remarkable that he was able to identify exactly who did it. I was afraid that it was going to ruin the night for Jeff. And to echo what bbop said, it's amazing that everything worked out as well as it did...the traffic from the state fair was reasonable, the line was long but orderly -
Seriously? I don't see any cuss words or horrible name calling.

If those are the first three reasons that come to mind, then the first thing you need to do is grow up. Like Ficky McFickerson said, do your soon-to-be-ex-wife a favor and let her get on with her life. Now that that's out of the way, how about posting a picture of her boobs?

The evil eye didn't work this time for me. Eventually someone else asked her to be quiet, and her boyfriend responded with, "Seriously? Seriously?" I learned over, gave him my nastiest look, and said, "Seriously. Please." A few people around us clapped for it. I just don't get it. If you came to listen to the music, then STFU and listen. If you want to socialize and carry on a conversation, then go out to the lobby, or give your tickets to someone who will appreciate the show.

Great meeting you, too! I guess the Ryman has a no-taping policy, so the guy was running a stealth rig. He said his Saturday recording sounds ok, but there were a lot of chatty people around him. He was a few seats down from me last night, and of course the levels were way off (lots of Pat's guitar, little of Pat's keys, little of Nels, and vocals were low). Regardless, it'll be nice to have them for the Less Than You Think > Art of Almost masterpiece. I hope his mics didn't pick up me shushing some idiot during One Sunday Morning...

Both nights were recorded, and they should show up on Dime within the next couple of weeks. Let me know if you get more than one offer for the poster trade: I'm in the exact same boat (extra of night 2, need night 1), and was just about to start a thread about it.

Indeed, what an incredible night. It was a pleasure talking with you before the show, too. Re: Jeff's hat - Mary immediately said, "Nashville Skyline." Yup.
-
I just left a voicemail for him - we have two extra tickets for tonight.

Pat had been playing it (one of Jeff's red SGs) - Lowe used a Tele.

Wilco Live Webcast This Sunday Night from Columbia
JethroNC replied to Albert Tatlock's topic in Just A Fan
Yes. And they just said that Wilco requested that the show be streamed only - not archived as a podcast. Nick Lowe just started. http://www.npr.org/2011/09/21/140669742/live-sunday-wilco-in-concert -
Yes, I've got friends and family in Columbia. Other than getting stuck in traffic thanks to a train, I've always had a good time down there.
-
They must have a standard mix. I mean, Wilco in Columbia? Really? I heard "Forget the Flowers" last night in Raleigh at a Lowes Foods...the same one where I heard "Medicine Hat" a few weeks ago.

A/P means "Artist's Proof," which refers to copies that were made to verify the colors and whatnot.
