and Deb is moving into Dexter's place, right? Did he keep the slides of blood there? I have never liked Rita, maybe her having some dark secrets will change my mind! Has anyone read the Darkly Dreaming Dexter books?

How are you cutting corners this holiday season?
c.lo replied to kidsmoke's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
Every year we take the kids & get their portraits done at the Super Store, a decent size package of photos is only $40. We give them to all the adults, my husband's brother & sister, our parents & grandparents & they really appreciate them. My husband hasn't worked since March, so we've cut way back on the two boys, about $150 each. -

I cashed in my Airmiles for $175 worth of gift cards & I bought for the nieces & nephew. -
Agree completely. I liked how the last episode wrapped it up, but it should have been in 2 or 3 episodes. I wanted more Skinner stalking Dexter.

What Uncle Tupelo songs have you heard live in one form or another?
c.lo replied to remphish1's topic in Someone Else's Song
I saw Jeff play "New Madrid" acoustic this summer at Lollapalooza with Bill Belzer on drums. No one in the croud seemed to know the song (but there was one old guy who nearly had a heartattack he was so excited). It was amazing & totally unexpected! -
great photos!

Jeff introduced themselves as "5/6 of Wilco" I believe the first 3 with no drummer were: Hesitating Beauty War on War Hummingbird & Jeff was ON lastnight! The quips about Glenn & the "contest winners" were great. I was looking forward to hearing You Are My Face & Hate It Here, but really enjoyed the older stuff. I was not sure how the crowd would be... lots of talking during Everest's set & the frat boys in front of us kept yelling for Neil. Once Wilco came on, people were in to it, lots of applause. Nels tore it up on Handshake Drugs & Impossible Germany (as usual

haven't been able to find one, this is what the Toronto Sun had to say about last night's show: Opening last night - Young plays his second show at the ACC tonight - were Chicago's alt-rock veterans Wilco and rising California indie-rock oufit Everest. Wilco frontman Jeff Tweedy and his five bandmates - Tweedy and bassist John Stirratt are the group's only remaining original members - unveiled a fun, feedback-laden 50-minute set that leaned towards songs from their most recent 2007 disc, Sky Blue Sky, although some tunes stretched back much further. But it was L.A. guitar god Nels Cline,

I'll still watch it, but, yeah - the Office is over. I've been so disappointed so far this season. I think all the guest stars have ruined it. (Although, I am looking forward to the Jon Hamm episodes, I absolutely love "Don Draper") 30 Rock 1st & 2nd seasons were so great! Favorite episode: Dr Spaceman (SPA-che-man) suggesting Jenna do meth to lose weight. too funny!

was looking on-line at the Lego store by my work (the website is iffy & don't seem to have any "links") but they have these cool workshops (& one on robotics & bridge making too), I think I'll sign Fynn up for this one during the Christmas break: Stop Motion Photography Stop Motion Photography is a great way to tell a story with LEGO. Our program will teach children ages 10 and up to set up a scene in groups of 4 kids using LEGO, photograph and download to stop motion software, and burn a CD of their story to take home. No experience is required - all materials provided. T

(sorry to high-jack your thread!) Well, to make you feel better, his birthday is December 31 & I don't have any ideas for it either. I usually end up buying a bunch of stuff & divide it into 3 piles: from mom & dad, from Santa, and for birthday There's a lego store close to my work, I'll go check it out one day at lunch. Great suggestion, I think he'd love the knights or skelton mini-figs. cute story - last month was Hayden's birthday & my husband & I went to the Dairy Queen to order his cake & facetiously asked if they had any "robot on dirtbike" designs & th

he sounds just like my kid! All Fynn (who's almost 10) wants is a Nintendo DS & my mom bought it for him, so I'm stuck too. Stop motion animation software, eh? he would love that. He rocks at Guitar Hero, so were thinking about World Tour. Mine would also like a large assortment of Lego men (the little brother loses them)- but, god I can't find decent ones for a good price. Looked on ebay & kijiji & the good ones (Star Wars, Batman,...) are so expensive! $5- $15 EACH! And the little one (Hayden who's 3) wants "a robot on a dirtbike"... he's been very specific about this. sorr

just noticed one of my facebook friends lists Golden Smog & Uncle Tupelo (along with a lot of other similar stuff) under his favorite music, but no Wilco? strange.

that's the night I have tickets too.

love it! I've book marked it too.

yes, I'm going to have to rewatch some of them. so excited!

I work with a guy who has read about Wilco (in Rolling Stone, no doubt), but has never heard them. My husband's best friend told me last week, "that band you like, I forget what they're called, is opening for Neil Young in 2 weeks" (I've had tickets for over a month). I NEVER hear them out & about, not at Starbucks, grocery stores, nor restaurants... Worse than no body knowing who they are, is trying to share them with someone you love & they don't get it. My husband actually dislikes Wilco... but I married him anyway.

I'm seeing them at ACC next week too & was thinking the same thing. As for the ACC, I've been there twice for concerts this year (dare I say Spice Girls & NKOTB) & am conviced there's really not a bad seat & the sound was amazing for both shows (despite what the sound actually was of).

thanks, I needed a smile.
