Did they completely underestimate demand for these boxes? The guy at my local indie store said they requested like 10 of them. Then they were cut back to 5. Now they were just told they are only getting 2 of them. Now I have to take time off work, show up at 10am when they open and hopefully get one of them. Either way, it's exciting to hear reviews from people, sounds like so far they are worth the price of admission! I'm still going Mono instead of Stereo though.

The new issue of Mojo magazine has the entire Abbey Road covered by various artists. Once I got over the fact the it was not the Beatles (which always takes me some time) and listened with an open mind, there is some good stuff on here. Standouts to me are: Something - Leisure Society I want you - Robyn Hitchcock You never give me your money - Glenn Tilbrook with Nine Below Zero Mean Mr. Mustard/Polythene Pam - Cornershop Of course, now that I think about it, these were probably the ones the stuck the closest to the Beatles versions.

Exactly right. Somehow he can get away with the old school showman shtick. It just seems to work, like you are watching an old vaudeville act or something. -
I had almost the identical experience. It was only a few years ago that I took the time to listen to it in headphones and really pay attention and it really is an amazing album. Not really a drive to work and half pay attention type of album. It is a dark record, you have to be in the right mood for sure but give it another chance.

I got a kick out of the interview where Justin said that Townes scared him a little when he was younger. He was always acting crazy and smelled funny (he later realized it was the booze). -

I do have a copy of "Wibbling Rivalry" that's kind of entertaining. 11 minutes of them arguing in those accents: geh ou' of me fooking band then ya prick! I have to admit, Noel does come across as slightly less of a douchy asshole on there than Liam.

Me too, I brought it to work for someone to borrow and when they gave it back I started listening to it constantly. Maybe I will move on to Third/Sister lovers tomorrow. But I don't think they are the best band from the 70's.

Fantastic and thanks for asking! You are right, the new stuff sounds really good live and I think they played just about everything from the new album. It was not a very big crowd. Johnny Hickman was standing next to us watching the opening band (the Piggies) and his father in law brought him a bag of guitar pedals. Not sure what that was all about. I have seen Cracker several times and I really liked this one. Seemed really stripped down, just 2 guitars, bass and drums. No keyboards or anything. They did "Pictures of Matchstick men", "Shake some action", lots of good stuff. Plus I wa

It certainly is debatable as I'm about to prove with my debate: Liam at least has some character to his voice. Imagine Noel trying to sing "What's the story" or something like that. It would suck bad. He does alright on the acoustic stuff but his voice is just bland to me. I do agree the first 2 albums are stellar but from what we have seen since, that may have been it. And if he is going to sing going forward, I'm out. And who is going to play tamborine now? They are both a couple of git's or Pratt's or whatever.

When it comes to criticism I tend to agree with Teddy Roosevelt: "It's not the critic that counts, not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles, or where the doer of deeds could have done better. The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena" Although that's true, I still love to listen to everybody elses opinions on music.

I just found out I'm going to the Cracker show tonight (someone has an extra ticket) in Ft. Collins, CO. Johnny Hickman's hometown. What a nice surprise. I have not seen them in a few years but I really like the new album. Anybody else going?
