Wow, that sounds like a real gem of a show. I'm horribly jealous.

I saw Elton play at one of Neil Young's bridge school concerts. He just came out in his little tennis shorts and it was just him on piano and nobody else. Made me realize what an amazing talent he is. He did Philadelphia freedom and it was so funky and really good.

Like most people, this is the only song I really know by them. Our band used to do this one and people seemed to like it. I have never heard anything else by them so good to know they are worth checking out.

That's a good one. It's interesting in that you could easily tell it's a Harrison riff even if you did not know he did it. Something about it just sounds so much like him. I think it was credited to "Harry's son" on the album or something.

You had the same questions I had. I didn't even figure out the fawn/beast was William until a few listens. I think the queen got the rake to steal Margaret but not sure. Either way, I'm impressed at how much story he could squeeze into one album. Granted there are 17 songs but he tells a pretty full story. Some great sounding Hammond B3 on this album. Over all, this is one of my favorite albums of the year and I'm really enjoying the hell out of it. I like it better than the Crane wife to be honest and that is a great album. Pitchfork is way off base giving it a 5.7. They say it's "no

Have a very happy birthday!

I downloaded the lyrics and listened closely. I'm not the brightest bulb but I did not think it was hard to follow the story line. I'm a sucker for a good concept album. Tommy, The Wall, 2112, american idiot, hell, I thought Operation Mindcrime was a heartbreaking work of staggering genius.

I must say, I agree with everything Solace has said so far. He has crystallized my thoughts completely. What a soulful voice Jason has. A song like "Streetlights" is just so lyrically perfect. I can't wait to see him live on April 11th.

Agreed. That one kicks me in the ass every time. The first few measures of the solo in "Ten Years Gone" kill me as well. The "ooohs" in "Goodbye blue sky". "friends in the trees, friends in the swamp" from "angels and fuselage". "Speed up slow down go all around in the end" from tractor rape chain.

And now there is this.

Wow, that sucks. A truly huge moment from The Wire.

"I'm out in the woods..."

Sometimes a little Elvis is just all you need.

Barney Miller warned us, oh why wouldn't we listen? Why?

I'm not sure I disagree. I really like both. I think the new Isbell does keep the bar raised though. Those are some high standards you got.

Don't knock it, I felt it stir a bit when I saw that cover.

Now I know, although that tubthumping song scared me away from going any deeper in the mix.

Chumbawamba had another song?

His vocals are just sounding so rough and bluesy in such a good way. I am looking forward to this.

The entire Conway Twitty song had a bit of the WTF factor but maybe that was the point. They have always gone over the top at times, for example the endless fights with the chicken. I still think it's more entertaining than most things on TV although it has fallen off a bit.

Nice to hear the new DBT is going to be more rocking. Maybe hearing how good the new Isbell album is will challenge them a bit.

There's room for pretension in music. It can't all be ironic or sarcastic of whatever. I think the album works. I can see why it would annoy people though.
