  1. That was great! I have never seen that clip, thanks.
  2. Good one, I thought about posting this one as well and never got around to it.
  3. I remember reading that Phil pulled out a gun and shot the ceiling when he was working with John. I think that would be a deal breaker for me.
  4. I like how he considered balls to "have hits in them". It says on Wiki that he was making league minimum $16,500 his rookie season. Quite a bargain.
  5. Very well said, I agree on all accounts. I do still bust out my Phil Spector Christmas album every year as well.
  6. I have to hand it to him, he's got some memories and stories that will last a lifetime. Even a couple songs written for him. Now if Paul Westerberg would just do something similar...
  7. Next stop, recruiting scandal!
  8. Isn't one theory that the universe will expand to a certain point and then contract back into a tiny molecule at which point the big bang will re-occur and we all get to live our lives over again? Althought I did read that the expansion of the universe is picking up speed, not slowing down so that kind of blows that out of the water.
  9. This is Colorado's version of a music festival. "The Mile High music festival". A few good bands but does not compare to the sasquatch or Lollapalooza or any of the other ones I have seen. Not sure I will bother. I hate the damn Fray. Saturday July 18th 2009:
  10. Last time I was there the front of the stage was all general admission and it was pretty easy to get nice and close.
  11. He was always a mousie looking dude. Even way back in his Easy Rider cameo. My Brother in law wears glasses like these.
  12. Yeah, I was picturing some Day of the Jackal shit.
  13. I would have been pretty shocked if he got away with it, even with his celebrity. The circumstances were just too overwhelming.
  14. Wow, we absolutely loved "The Bird" growing up. He was such a character. What an amazing season he had in 1976 as a rookie. We would get so excited when we could catch a game he was pitching. My brother and I would take turns getting to "be him" and pitch to each other. That sucks, sounds like a tragic accident.

    Record Store Day

So which Pavement LP is it? Is it just now coming out? Not on Amazon? I can see about picking one up but the record store I go to is fairly small so no guarantees.
  16. Thanks for the link, it's a good sounding recording. I absolutely loved that version of Loser and I like Jerry's guitar tone on this.
  17. For the gear heads out there, I took a peak at Isbells set up onstage. He had this looper that I did hear him use on one song: He had the Green Ibanez tube screamer: He also had a Boss TU-2 tuner I think. And he was using a Sommatone amp similar to this: Oh yeah, and he played an ES-335 the vast majority of the night. He had an amazing tone, sometimes the easy set ups are the best.
  18. So which is correct (pronuncorially speaking) Mayo-naise or Man-aise
  19. The theatre was packed at last nights show which was great to see. I don't know if it was sold out but it had to be close. Maybe that will help bring him back again soon! I was a bit surprised to see how skinny Justin Townes Earle was. Made Barney Fife look obese. He was very entertaining though. Like you said, what a bargain, $15. Your set list looks fairly close to last night. He did close the night with "American Girl". Jason pulled off the Mike Campbell leads quite well. He also played some fantastic slide on a few songs.
  20. I always liked "Dressed to kill". It's still a great album. "She" is just a great song. "Destroyer" is also really good. I agree, Stanley and Simmons were the driving force of the band. "Beth" is a bit of a fluke.
  21. The Destroyer tour, that's way cooler than the Dynasty tour I saw! Destroyer actually holds up in my mind. You just don't see double bills like that anymore. Bob Seger and Kiss!
  22. Just got back from the Isbell show, amazing! Justin Townes Earle was really good. They make a lot of sound for just 2 people. The crowd ate it up. Isbell was flat out amazing. Taking swigs from a bottle of jack all night. Did everything I wanted to hear except "Sunstroke" and "Streetlights". The biggest surprise was him doing "Psycho Killer" and closing the show with "American Girl". One of the better shows I have seen in awhile.
  23. KISS was my first real concert I attended so I will always have a soft spot for them. They have quite a few songs that hold up, "Parasite" is a great song. Westerberg has admitted to being a fan, the Mats cover of Black Diamond was not "Ironic".
