Damn, I always hate bagging on something and then having someone like it. Now I feel bad. The album just never worked for me. Maybe because I hate "Amanda" so damn much it tainted everything else. Plus I knew someone that used to put that damn thing on every time I showed up like it was the greatest thing ever and it drove me crazy. You are right though, the guitar tones are still amazing although they sounded less heavy or raw or something to me.

I know it's the minority opinion but I agree with you on the rockier stuff, Okemah is actually my favorite.

Going through my old vinyl. You know, this one does not really hold up (although "Love is Alive" I still like). I did not realize Ronnie Montrose plays guitar on the record. Actually I didn't know there was guitar on this record. I'm going back to the new Son Volt which is really working for me.
