Yep, just got back from it actually, sorry you had to miss it. What a fantastic movie. Seemed like it was 5 minutes long. Kind of a subdued crowd at the Boulder theatre tonight but I get the sense everyone walked away happy. I took my 14 year old daughter and she seemed to really like it. Welcome to the board by the way!

I agree. Somewhere along the line it became "uncool" to like Rush and I'm not sure why. I'm not saying that's why people don't like them (like Hardwood). I can see why they probably rub some people the wrong way, those vocals for example. And they do have some really bad albums. My thought is they are monster musicians and they do have some great stuff. Red Barchetta has some amazing lyrics and music. I still love 2112. Not my favorite band but I think they are worthy of more respect than they get.

You don't think using the Bob Newhart theme has anything to do with being from Chicago? It was just a random choice?

I think playing the Bob Newhart theme song at the opening shows they consider themselves a Chicago band.

I get an e-mail as soon as any band is announced at Red Rocks. It's going to happen any day now I know it.

Saw them open for the Black Crowes and they tore it up. I had never heard of them but they they got the crowd on their side. They came out and said "don't be afraid, it's just some hillbilly music". There is a great interview with Kristofferson in the new Rolling Stone. It's written by Ethan Hawke. Describes a run in with an unnamed person who I can only assume was Toby Keith. I mean good lord, what a resume: U.S. Army Airborne Ranger, boxer, profesional helicopter pilot, Rhodes Scholar, and amazing songwriter. He's a bad man.

It's got a picture of the new supergroup "Chicken foot" on the cover (Satriani, Hagar, Michael Anthony and Chad Smith). Should be on the stands because it's brand new.

I suppose it has been 40 years! Beck actually states in that interview that for Becks Bolero Page wrote the rhythm guitar. Beck says he wrote the lead guitar parts and melodies. He talked about how they have known each other since they were 14, introduced by Beck's sister. Does not look like the interview is posted on the guitar world website but if I find it I will post it.

There is actually a really good interview with Beck in the new Guitar World magazine. He says some pretty friendly things about his friend Jimmy Page. For some reason I thought there was more bad blood between them than there was.

What's the verdict on this one? How is it?

I'm hoping places like Best Buy and Walmart will continue to decline in CD sales and give the independent stores a shot. Appears to be happening already. One of the most enjoyable things to do is walk around in a good indy music store. I know that sucks for the people in small towns that don't have those stores but really, with amazon you do have access to anything anyways. I still buy quite a few CD's.
