I always enjoy lists but this one is crap. I completely disagree with the statement that "no one really considers the current decade to be a period of "great" music". There are tons of great things being released all the time, it's just not the shit you ever hear on the radio.

My one and only Grateful Dead show had John Fogerty sitting in, here is the setlist. I'm ashamed to say I enjoyed it but was not that well versed in the dead. Man if I could go back in time. At least I can say I saw them: 1 Hell in a Bucket 2 China Cat Sunflower 3 I Know You Rider 4 Wang Dang Doodle 5 Born on the Bayou with John Fogerty 6 Green River with John Fogerty 7 Bad Moon Rising with John Fogerty 8 Proud Mary with John Fogerty 9 Truckin' > 10 The Other One 11 Wharf Rat Ga 12 Sunshine Daydream

Woo Hoo! Just got my "steppin out with the GD" in the mail yesterday. Only had time to listen to CD1 but so far I am really happy with the sound quality and songs. Right out of the gate I just loved "Cold rain and snow", "Jack Straw", love "It hurts me too". I'm girding my loins for the 31 minute version of "Dark Star" on Disk 4.

You have to figure he is a big part of why they are still around and relevant. He's not afraid to tell Bono where the bear shit in the buckwheat.

I just finished the U2 article in Rolling Stone and I thought it had some interesting stuff. I liked Bono comparing Jimmy Page to Wagner. Sounds like the spider man album is completely Bono and the Edge but Bono would like it to be a U2 album. I also liked how Bono said that Brian Eno would probably listen to "Satisfaction" and say, good song but can we take that guitar out of the mix?

That's an interesting new one. Sorry, our hands our tied, we have to give huge bonuses because our company lawyers say so. Somebody please bring the hammer down on these guys.

One thing to consider is not listening to any of the audio commentary on the episodes until you are done with that season at least. Although very interesting, those things are just full of spoilers. I know this has been posted before but:

Jon Stewart destroys Mad Money's Jim Cramer

I'm sure glad I put a bunch of money into a 529 plan for the kids college. It is now worth half as much as when I started. It needs to recover in the next 4 years. I don't even want to think about weddings. -
I use daddario for all my electrics but never really tried them for my acoustics. I should give them a shot.

For some reason I could not place the actor that played Rorschach even though he looked so familiar. Then I realized it was Jackie Earle Haley from Bad News Bears and Breaking Away. I thought he was perfect for the part. Seems like he kind of disappeared from acting but I read he has been doing a bunch of directing. I loved the line

My favorite city in the world. Walking around fishermans warf with a beer in a paper bag and eating fresh fish is a must since you are staying there. Great modern are museum worth checking out. I would highly recommend eating at a place called Des Alpes if it's still around. You have to look at the menu because they only have a few options on any given night. Great atmosphere. Very out of the way and non touristy. The thing I like about SF is it's so small you can really see a bunch just by walking around. Tons of rock and roll history type places to visit if you are into that, merry

Likewise, get to see it on the big screen in Boulder on 4/8/09.

Good info, thanks. I tend to like the way strings sound better after they are played a bit. The brand new ones always sound more trebly or too bright for my taste. Gotta season them a bit like a fine Wok. I like the way new strings look and feel though!

I would love to hear that. A nice glimpse into the next album.

They forgot to carry the 2. -
The John Pearse strings are really nice and worth checking out. I have used them on my Taylor and they sound great.

It's good to see I'm not alone in my feelings for the show. The absolute best show ever. You know when you have a writer like Richard Price penning episodes you have something good. The characters are amazing. The guy that plays Bubbles is just an amazing actor but they all are really. Very cool seeing Steve Earle have a part in it. I hope that's not a spoiler in any way. I would hate to give anything away. So many great scenes. I'm still in the midst myself. I just watched episodes 1-3 of season 5 for the first time. Her it is 3 in the morning because I could not stop watching them

Just got the "33 1/3" books for "Murmur", "Bee Thousand", and "Daydream Nation". I like the idea of a whole book devoted to one album.

I have to watch that tool Cramer, read the WSJ, and find some third party that is also not totally on the take? I'm glad I don't invest (other than the kids 529 plan). -
A million tickets in hours? They obviously don't use LiveNation across the pond.

That one had too many buttons for my pea brain. Couldn't play that for anything but I did like it.

Deluxe edition of Sorry Ma. Just picked both of these up.

I have said it before but The Wire is the best thing that has ever been on TV. Better than Deadwood, Better than the Sopranos, better than Gilligan''s Island. I envy you getting to see them for the first time. Actually I'm starting season 5 tonight. Season 4 was a mind blowing masterpiece.

I used to be able to score like 600,000+ on that game but I could never quite get to that 999,995 level.
