  1. I love Son Volt but I can totally see how someone would not appreciate Jay's voice.
  2. OK, i'm getting lost. Is FACE a Pollard, Takeovers, or Boston Spaceships album?
  3. Life is too short and there are too many other good bands for me to listen to the Graham Nash Box set. I always liked his songs least of the bunch. Not much for his Hollies work either.
  4. I think I have "a night on the town" somewhere but I'm pretty sure I inherited from my mother. I don't remember buying it. Every picture tells a story is straight money to this day, I did buy that one.
  5. Sabbath Volume 4 is enough for me to think of Ozzy as a legend. I also still really love Blizzard of OZ and Diary of a Madman (plus all the other old Sabbath of course). That movie looks great Llynn, thanks for the link.
  6. I taught my daughter to play "Furr" on acoustic because she is a big fan of that song. I have not really given the album much of a listen. I have a hard time keeping up with all the good music out there. I'm still working my way through Fleet Foxes, Animal Collective, Bon Iver, etc... but this one is on the list. Good to hear it's worth it.
  7. Like everybody said, it's a great time to buy. One of the smartest decisions I ever made was buying instead of renting as early as possible. I have actually liked every house I ever lived in, even the starter one that was constant work. Good luck in your hunt!
  8. That's a great perspective I had not thought of. Kind of like songwriters realizing The Beatles were in their early 20's when making their masterpieces. Sounds like IJ is at least more accessible than Gravitys rainbow so I'm in. As soon as I finish Dylan's Chronicles of course.
  9. Anyone seen this one? It's playing Friday night at CU and I can't decide whether to see it. Timecrimes Intricate Spanish Sci-Fi Time-Travel Thriller The hero of Time Crimes (Los Cronocr
  10. I was just told in another thread that "Magnet" is the best american music magazine. Now this. Who am I to trust anymore? Actually I agree that "company in my back" is underrated for what it's worth but that's it! Bon Iver is not doing it for me yet but I keep trying.
  11. Here is a Family Guy version of the stomping grapes lady: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IrEgYumC_Lc
  12. Hah, you know it! Used to have to prop the damn thing up with a matchbook or butter knife or something to get it to play. Wait a minute, who you calling an old dude! I'm only 40! Now that's funny. I think my brother only listens to Pink Floyd and Syd Barrett these days.
  13. From the trailer it looks like they may have done this one right. Could be really good.
  14. I remembered the Cher connection. We would study those pictures of Gene and Cher when we were younger trying to see if we could catch a glimpse of what he looked like. He was damn good about getting that hand up to block the shot. Alright, I put Dylan's "Desire" on pause and I am Listening right now. Man of 1000 faces - Interesting horns and strings. I can see why my 11 year old self would not have liked it but it sounds decent enough now. Always near you - Holy cow, I don't remember Gene being able to sing that high. Mellow. Mr. Make Believe - Mellow. Have to admit they don't so
  15. I might actually do that! I don't remember a single song from Peter's but according to Wiki it had an "R&B" style and was heavy on Ballads so you are probably right, it must have been really bad. I don't remember Joe Perry, Rick Nielson, Donna Summer, and Bob Seger being on Gene's but it's been 30 years. I just remember playing Gene's once and thinking "wow that sucked".
  16. Really? I remember "when you wish upon a star" and "Living in sin at the holiday in (with a cameo by Cher)" on Gene's. I would remember if it was worse than that so maybe I did not hear it. I was a huge Kiss fan back then but don't remember listening to any of these other than a few spins. Even Aces.
  17. It helps that it's a great song but I do like what you guys did on it!
  18. I don't think so, although I'm not big on credibility. I would go see the faces in a second. Edit: Wow I right bad sometimes. I meant "Nope".
  19. I can't believe a good team that appears to have pretty good chemistry would take a chance on him either. All you hear is what complete locker room poison he is. I guess him and KG always had a good relationship and there is no doubt the guy is good but damn. Plus I just hate to see a tool like him continue to be rewarded.
  20. Got a uke last year but really have done nothing with it. I like Macca's version of "Something" on the Harrison tribute. There is that amazing version of "While my guitar gently weeps" on youtube. Since the strings are switched around and I have to re-learn all the chords I have been lazy about it. Isn't there an Eddie Vedder tune that's all uke? Anyways, not much help but would love to hear if others know some good tunes.
  21. It's hard to want to read a book that makes you feel intellectually inferior. I have come to the conclusion that I am not capable of reading and understanding Ulysses. I bought Gravity's rainbow but have not started it yet. Infinete Jest is the same thing. I'm not so afraid of the work it will take to get through them, just afraid to find out I am not even capable of getting through them.
  22. Nice, you got one of the better songs on the CD.
