  1. Obama wants to halve the budget deficit by end of first term. Now that would be a feat. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090222/ap_on_...wh/obama_budget
  2. You know it's a good band when one of the main people is gone and people are still excited to see them.
  3. I'm sure Mars is making more money with his Art than he ever did with the Replacements. Just Paul and Tommy would be enough for me I think. Michael Bland is very good, he played on the last tour (along with Jim Boquist and Kevin Bowe) I saw Westerberg do.
  4. You said it perfectly. The reason people like them is they are unique and fearless. Takes more guts to do a new arrangement of a song like that than sleepwalking through one. I enjoyed watching it.
  5. That sucks, he deserves a much bigger audience.
  6. Some nice Marc Bolan: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8CwKJapgzFk&h...;fs=1"> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uueO8BQGLDo&h...;fs=1">
  7. Screw Guns and Roses, they are not a boil on the ass of the Replacements.
  8. I think this tele is in the Rock and roll hall of fame in Cleveland. I stared at it for hours. It's the one from the rooftop show as well as many Abbey Road recordings. I couldn't believe I was inches from it. That's the stuff I like about the R and R hall of fame. I love that guitar. I hardly play my other guitars. It has such a sweet sound and comfortable neck. Stays in tune. Just a great guitar for the money.
  9. Isn't Alvin Youngblood Hart opening for Son Volt? How is he going over? He is a friend of a friend and a super nice guy. About 6' 8" and 300 lbs. A huge man and amazingly talented.
  10. Ok, The Replacements, just because I want it to be true.
  11. I heard "She" and thought Misfits, Kiss, and Green day in that order. Gram Parsons never occurred to me.
  12. Cool, I know a few people that moved to RTP in North Carolina. Not even sure where though. So that area is still strong? Is it a nice area to live?
  13. Just watched it, awesome. Now I understand your quote!

    One Song

That makes more sense than anything I have come up with.
  15. I lose my job I'm screwed in Colorado. Not exactly a biotech hotbed. I think we are doing as bad as anywhere. Seagate just up the road laid a bunch of people off recently.
  16. My daughter (14 years old) and I spent the night playing "Ripple". I figured it would be a good one for 2 acoustics and she is just learning so can play just the chords well. I'm so proud. We also played "The Crane Wife" by the Decemberists and "Ooh La La" by the Faces but that does not belong in this thread.

    One Song

I'm going to second that one. I wanted to say "Company in my back" because I love that song but Muzzle of Bees is a better choice. Anybody know what "Company in my back" is about lyrically?
  18. Look at the Rockies World Series run. Chemistry was a huge part of that.
  19. Very cool. Streetlights and Cigarettes and wine are great songs.
